Passengers of a Turkish Airlines flight, which made an emergency landing in the airport here after developing technical problems, will now resume their onward journey to Mumbai, says a UNI report.
Airline officials informed the 123 passengers, mostly Indians, that they would be airlifted to their destination by another plane which is coming from the Turkish capital of Istanbul.
The plane will reach here at 3:45 p.m. local time (5:45 p.m IST) and leave for Mumbai at 4:45 p.m. (6:45 p.m IST), officials said.
Manvir Singh, Indian Ambassador to Iran, said he was in touch with his Turkish counterpart.
The passengers, who had a harried night last night at the airport lounge because they were not allowed to go to the city, were relieved when the 1987-made Airbus A 310-300 took off this morning but were shocked when it returned here after being in the air for 40 minutes.
The plane was forced to return to the airport for the second time within ten hours due to a hydraulic problem it developed after take off.
Most of the passengers were hesitant to travel by the same aircraft and had approached the Indian Embassy to see if any alternate arrangements could be made for their flight back home.
The agitated passengers also told the Duty Manager of the Turkish Airlines A Hossain that another aircraft be arranged for their onward journey to Mumbai, rejecting suggestions that they would be provided hotel accommodation.
Air India was also contacted by the Indian Ambassador and said it would be ready to send a A310. |
