Interesting that UL wants to link PNQ and Coimbatore. Is there really so much tourist traffic from these ports- or are they instead betting that they could offer cheap international transit fares on to SE Asia and other destinations using their EK partnership instead?

Also CX is painfully slow on any plans to increase their presence in India. They took 10 years to launch DEL- HKG after years of talking about it for soooooo long. Southern destinations ex HKG makes a lot of sense sense and perhaps they will service both the new BLR and HYD airports. However CX is very monopolistic/ protectionist in its outlook. Whilst they want additional flights to India - the Indian Govt has demanded additional fifth freedom traffic rights ex-HKG on teh Trans Pacifc routes in return - something CX have resisted for 15 years now. They know they have 40% of the Indian Trans Pacific traffic and want to keep it that way.....

9W has indicated it will start HKG in 2008, I expect that when CX will get aditonal flights to India and will link either BLR or HYD

Any news on other international airlines trying to link PNQ?
