According to this article..about their BRU hub, an interesting comment caught my eye.
http://www.atwonline.com/news/story.html?storyID=8785
It currently serves six international destinations, growing to 15 by October, according to Prock-Schauer.
Given the previous statement in the article it is clear he is referring to Oct 2008 ---
But lets speculate on the 9 additional international destinations--
The current 6 are
LHR, CMB ,KTM , KUL, SIN, BKK
Out of the New 9 ones ---some known are
BRU, EWR,YYZ, LAX, ORD, PVG, SFO.
Which could possibly be the other 2--
Could it be DXB and HKG [as often speculated] or ????

Jet Airways is also planing a BOM-JNB service ( source Business Traveller)
I speculate that Jet may add one more African destination (Durban, Mombasa, Nairobi, Mauritius???) to its network. _________________

Johannesburg and Male is my bet (Joburg is pretty much confirmed going by the Chairmans statement in this months Jet Wings) while Male is a Sahara destination
Dont see them having aircraft to do any more expansions unless its on B737s (gulf maybe ?)
What with the 6 US/Canada routes consuming 12 aircraft, 4-5 used for London (basis when Bangalore-LHR starts up), 2 required for the South east asia rotation (Bom-Sin-Maa-Kul-Maa-Sin-Bom), 1 (if not 2) for Joburg. At best, they could use 1 aircraft to start Dubai or Hongkong. I suspect any further expansion has to wait till 2010 when they get the 787s..unless of course they convert their options for 777/330s and pay premiums for early deliveries |

Present International destinations: LHR, BKK, SIN, CMB, KUL and KTM
New Announced 07/08:
BRU/ New Ark & YYZ
New Planned (07/09):
JFK and ORD (thru BRU)
PVG and on to SFO
JNB (direct from BOM - but may infact be AMD as thats where the traffic is)
Possible others that are being mulled:
PVG - LAX & YVR and a HKG VV daily ex an Indian destination
(what about possible fifth freedom ex HKG? CX goes to DXB ex BOM- AI in return goes to Japan ex HKG)
Once the MCLR A/C are inducted onto to SIN route- the 737 NGs willl potentially be freed for new ops to DXB and other Emirate/ Gulf destnations in 2008 - potentially under the Jet Lite banner as the competition here has become ferociously low cost. Alternatively 9W might plan to link smaller Indian desitantions (eg: BLR/ HYD/ PNQ) with SIN/ BKK using these aircraft.
The SNB code share gives them EU coverage so I dont expect any major launches to other EU destinations in the immediate future but an ATQ or AMD to Birmingham direct may stand up to a metrics test... lots of Punjus and Gujjus on both ends!! |

Are there any possibilities of seeing 9W operate to other destinations such as SYD,MEL or AKL? _________________ www.flickr.com/G-BYGB photos |

I think they've tied up on the ANZ market with their QF code share via SIN. I'm guessing they entered into the code share agreement as they don't see themselves entering the market directly for a few years. |

Correct nimish, so at the moment a person flying QF or 9W flies like this:
India-SIN--> Jet Airways
SIN-Australia--> Qantas _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld

The IC route to MEL via SIN will start in Nov 07 - at least thats when they announced they would start. AI/ IC are notorious for making launch announcements which quietly fade into the back ground when other politic exigencies take over.
AI to SYD - thats the first I've heard of it. Doesnt make sense if IC is already going to be servicing MEL ex SIN.
Once 9W deploys the new A330s to SIN ex BOM and DEL, if the 737NGs are going to be used to connect tier 2 locations (BLR/ HYD/ MAA/ PNQ/ AMD) then the QF-9W code share will probably be the best option (other than SQ) for Aus / India connectivity. Of course if CX launces a BLR or HYD connector thru HKG where it hubs every major Aus city operation daily, the choices will be many and I cant see why any one would want to use a far less reliable AI/IC service.... |

Fifth freedom rights ex-HKG are limited. AI operates 7 weekly flights via HKG onwards to ICN and KIX with 5th freedom rights only on 4 flights out of 7. There are just no additional entitlements from HKG.
Wasn't there a talk of Jet going to YYZ via Dusseldorf, on airliners.net??? When Jet was applying to the Indian government for permission to fly to Americas, it also applied for YYZ via HKG. |

I think they abandoned the Dusseldorf plan once they chose BRU as a hub.
HKY YYZ/ YVR was also part of the original plan - which I think may have been impacted by theirrecently announced plans for Shanghai. It seems increasingly like HKG is either off the 9W radar or will only be a terminator service. Without joining One World, a HKG terminator would be of limted value to 9W in any event. |

The other possible Int'l Destinations for 9W are:
1.ATL (BOM-BRU-ATL)
2.BOS
3.MAN (ATQ-MAN-ATQ)
9W might consider operating flights to these cities in the future from the fact that lot of students,IT professionals and tourists from India travel each year to these cities. _________________ www.flickr.com/G-BYGB photos |
