Quote:
Bangalore: UB Group and Deccan Aviation Ltd have denied media reports that Kingfisher Airlines Ltd may pick up a stake in Air Deccan, according to a Bloomberg report.

The report quotes Vijaya Menon, head of corporate communications at Deccan, as saying that there was no merit in the report, and also, that the proposed merger did not reflect any synergy. The report also says that Ravi Nedungadi, president and chief financial officer of the UB Group, has denied reports that there were any talks between the two organizations.

The denials come on the back of persistent media reports that Kingfisher, controlled by Bangalore-based UB Group, was in negotiations with Deccan to buy either a controlling stake or the entire airline.

I recall that when Air Sahara first went into play, Jet was very quick to deny any discussions and indicated it had very littel interest in procuring Air Sahara......

I still dont get the fit between IT and Deccan. They are poles apart. One is a marginally low cost and consequently low price service provider (Deccan) the other (IT) is a very high cost, but low price service provider. Both have strategies of questionable sustainability.....

But hey, its fun to watch.

I am flying to DEL from BLR on May 23rd and returning on May 26th. The fare offered for BLR-DEL-BLR by DN is Rs. 10298.00. The fare offered by Kingfisher is Rs. 8450.00.

A lot of this seems to be pure speculation by our media. There was an interview with both VM and Gopinath speaking about each other, which is probably what set this off in the first place.

Cheers

MEL: In this case that wont be the case: since DN is the listed company and can only gain with rumors of a UB interest.

Especially becoz it comes on the tails of rumors of other parties like Reliance-ADAG, a certain former maharaja from the South and a textile group also from the south rumored to be looking at a stake.

More interest usually translates into a better valuation! Smile
