Air Deccan to launch flight from Delhi to Leh from May 23

Bangalore, UNI:

Air Deccan would be the first low cost airline connecting Ladakh, the undulating and mountainous terrain which will be perpetually inaccessible for most parts of the year, by air. Shocked

Yeah KCM, they're right...only thing.... delays might be in terms of days not hours as usually....
"Dear passenger we're sorry to announce that your flight has been re scheduled for the next month as the weather is very bad there at the moment"
Heck !!! We had to turn back after 250 kms from Srinagar while going to Leh.... no roadblock ... however we were told by some inbound truck drivers that the visibility was TOO bad on the highways and it was raining like hell... but the road was a paradise to travel.....

Darn.....excuse my bias or whatver you want to call it.... ladakh has such an untouched environment... a LCC flying there means lots of people.. hmmmmmm lets hope most are struck with altitude sickness!!!!

I am quite against opening up Ladakh and the Andamans to large no of tourists!

nitin

Heck why not! Seats on the delhi-Leh segment are hard to find anyway! more so because flights are load-restricted on the way back and IC A320's cannot operate with more than 120/130 pax onthe return leg.

So much so that in the summer season, both IC and 9W operate extra flights departing within 10 minutes of each other! This is one of the sectors where there is no apex or anything. So more competition is always welcome.

PS: I am glad to see another A320 operator in Leh. The A320 is the only one which has cargo door large enough to squeeze a Royal Enfield through! Smile

No man! I intend to ride as usual!

Some lazy bums who come with me lost interest half way through and try to ship their bikes back by truck and lfy back!

Like some queens did last year! Thats when i found out that only IC was willing to accept an enfield to carry back to delhi. And for 17.85 a kilo not a bad deal at all!

But for me: I ride back! Unless my steed gets crippled
