Mystery plane in close shave

A mystery plane on a collision course with a KLM flight over the Bay of Bengal threw the city airport authorities into a tizzy on Sunday morning.

The aircraft, which has still not been identified, was not following a flight path. It stayed in the area under the Calcutta Air Traffic Control (ATC)’s surveillance for three hours. But the pilot did not establish contact with the city ATC, said officials.

The mystery plane stayed in the vicinity for 3 good hours, but why was it not intercepted by our IAF?

It was over Bay of Bengal and not over Indian territory.

Anybody any thoughts if it was of some LTTE ? Or maybe some sort of spy plane ?
An LTTE aircraft is doubtful considering the area where the map shows.

The Burmese govt has leased out an island it owns in the Andaman Sea to the Chinese to set up a radar llistening station. This is barely 20 kms from the nearest Indian island int he archipelago Maybe the Chinks have built a runway on this island to launch unmanned/manned aircraft to snoop on the indian navy?

We should just take over the island if this incident is linked. Even if it isnt, this would be a good excuse to take over the island.

Ya. The chinese have a base in Coco Islands, just north of Andaman Islands. Basically a radar station for Snooping on our Navy. That's the reason we have a base in Carnic and Navy has a airfield in Campbell Bay. There are chances that a fighter squadron will be based in Carnic but on detachment basis.

Cheers
