Many people (including myself) have had problems with misplaced baggage while flying by BA. But is it a problem connected with BA or Heathrow airport? There are of course various other options such as 9W and VS between DEL/BOM and LHR-do they also have a reputation for losing baggage? Don't mention AI as it is nobody's first choice today unless one is a government employee.

Another query: the place I visit in Britain is relatively closer to Gatwick than Heathrow. The only suitable link from Delhi to Gatwick seems to be Qatar Air with change at Doha. Any comments about this airline and airport? Are their prices comparable to BA?

I'm told the problem at LHR is basically to do with the baggage handling system (BAA), and not the airline (BA). But I find that hard to believe, as so many other airlines pass through LHR without this amount of mess. BA is quite notorious, and I've had about 30-50% of my acquaintances face baggage issues while passing through LHR! Though the number in reality is unlikely to be so high, this is just based on anecdotal information from my circle of friends and friend's friends.

*QR is a good airline and i think you should travel it once ...

*plus DEL & HYD are the only cities from india which ave suitable connections TO/FROM LGW

*On DEL - DOH - LGW you will have A330-200/A330-300 good IFE's with AVOD

*the airport is slightly mediocre but it isnt that bad considering it is going rennovation and ye s there is enough place to sit there is a duty free

* The food quality is good but it depends from person to person what kind of food he likes so cannot guarantee whether u may like it or not

All the above information is true since ive travelled QR extensively
and Qatar is my hometown ( so iam a bit biased abt it Smile )

besides abt the fares u can check ,... but u will not regeret travelling
QR when compared to BA

You also have Emirates as an option on this sector ... so see what suits you the best .. but beware DXB airport is very huge and chaotic

DOH will also be crowded but you wont have any inconvenience of any sort

btw QR will have a fare of 21000 + taxes on this sector = RS29,500

which is the cheapest
