|
|
Every summer for the past few years it has been the same thing - fares on advance purchases rise for the holiday season, and then many of them tend to collapse as the travel dates get closer. New airlines with new routes was one reason for the past few years.
This year may well be different. With reduction in capacity from GoAir, goodbye Indus, scaling down of whats left of Air Sahara and now the trend of placing excess capacity on lease abroad like Spicejet did . . . the only spoiler left will be Air Deccan. Which really does not work for many of the business community, for obvious reasons.
Or Indian Airlines, who may well be waiting for this opportunity, could be the spoiler for Summer 2007. To claw back at market share, and increased flight schedules/utilisations.
Otherwise it is back to coupon booklets at average prices of 6000/- rupees in Economy. |

That looks like a fairly good price, and will get you a lot of extra miles and tier points if you ran your booking online.
But yes, the LCC fares are shooting through the roof lately. Wonder what their load factors are like? |

the bookings made on most of 9W's lower fare buckets do not qualify for miles anymore. So be warned!
Even a discounted Business class ticket (the return ticket that is avalable for a little more than full fare economy return) is not eligible for points anymore! _________________ http://www.cougar-rides.com

Load factors on SG atelast are clearly high! I am a regular on their Thursdays 1600 flight PNQ-BLR and return on Monday/Tuesday.
For my company atleast LCC's are off the table. However SG is an exception. And SG flights have always been nearly 100% full wherver I have been on them!
Majority of the traffic on the PNQ-BLR segment is IT traffic (i guess!) and SG is the only LCC that has carved a rep in this segment. Most prefer sticking to 9W/IC. _________________ http://www.cougar-rides.com
