Last month one of the AA executive's had stated "We are also looking at interline agreements whereby domestic airlines in India will bring passengers to Europe from where AA will connect them to US destinations."

Now that Jet has bought S2 I think it would make perfect sense for Jet to extend the S2 interline and codeshare with AA and use the codeshare to extend its reach from LHR. This would be perfect extension of the LHR focus that Jet has maintained. Ofcourse they could also do this from BRU to ORD.

Well if I remember correctly, the last time merger talks happened, AA said that it wasn't interested in alliance with Jet. Maybe different this time??

Cheers

AA has had issues getting its unions to agree to long non-stops flights (remember their modification of the DFW-Beijing application). I guess they do not expect that they will be able to pull off a ORD-BOM with their unions. So for now they want to stick to just the one ORD-DEL flight and then use interlining agreements with Indian carrires to attract US bound traffic.

I do think that no other airline (besides AA) can benefits more in attracting US bound traffic through a codeshare with Jet on the LHR routes that Jet serves. If they do code share AA will immediately be able to attract traffic from BOM, ATQ, AMD and DEL.
