I know that BA wanted to fly this route, but for some reason are delaying the introduction . They have stated that this route is the next highest priority in 2005. Does any one know when BA or some other airline might start flying this route ?

As per the India-UK ASA:

Quote:
From the beginning of the IATA Winter season 2005, the designated airlines of the UK may operate on any other route or routes between the UK and India and vv, subject to a total capacity limit of 7 services per week to/from each airport in India, except that in the cases of Bangalore and chennai only, the total capacity limit will be increased to 14 services per week each from the beginning of the IATA summer season 2006

So clearly seems like BA has the route authority/traffic rights for the LHR-HYD sector. Given they're expanding BLR to a 744 this winter, I'm surprised on why they're not starting services to HYD - surely HYD can support a 3 or 4 weekly 777 service to LHR?

clearly, HYD has enough potential to support a 3-5 pw LON BA service.

maybe BA plans a summer 08 launch after its consolidation at BLR.

If Air India's fleet plan for the 777s had gone as scheduled with the first 777LR in Feb 2007, AI was seriously considering a 777/747-400 service each from Hyderabad/Bangalore/Chennai (extendable to Cochin) to London.

Anyway, thats history now for a while.
