How many 330s does 9W have in their fleet now? and why are they changing their equipment on the MAA-SIN and BOM-SIN route? _________________ HamiltonAir |

These changes should come about when Jet gets about 2-3 77Ws.
Once the 77Ws are in place, BOM/DEL - LHR should shift from the A340s thus these a/c could be freed up and used on secondry routes like AMD/ATQ - LHR and eventually freeing the A332s tied up there for BOM/MAA - SIN.
I think jet has 2 A330s or more if any would have arrived in march.
This is the 2nd A330 at DEL: VT-JWE (17-Feb-07) Taken by Me
Enjoy

Altough i love the idea and the comfort of the A330 on the SIN routes from BOM and MAA, they are recording a load factor of just around 65-70%, atleast on BOM that too with some of it coming from the QF codeshares, do yoll think there is demand to justify the upgrade of the aircraft.
Also as far as 77W deliveries go, all will come between April 07 and April 08, and with regards to the 343s which apparently will be freed up as per above replies to be redeployed, they will go back to their original owner--SAA in around June.
The way i see it is, some of the New/Current 330s will be based at BOM, and will operate one of the daily LHR flights [day time dept] and the SIN flights , should be around May-June though, hope it is earlier---But can someone answer the question i asked above.

Since The flight is terminating at SIN i guess they shud be targetting the pax bound for Singapore. Ohh are 9W flights to BOM also under the codeshare with QF. i thought they were jst for delhi becoz they dnt fly their own metal there. Besides QF is already operating thrice a week to BOM.
Bt if we talk abt international travel from down under the south east asian carriers ie SQ/TG/MH still rule the route. Qantas is nt looked upon as an ideal carrier.
See in a competetive market there is nothing like is there a demand for a particular product. If u can market urself well u can bloody operate an A380 on BOM-SIN route forget abt A332,s or 777,s...
A market will grow at the steady rate along with the present market u need to target ppl travelling beyond Singapore who wud then fly on the codeshared carriers plus try to keep the fares attractive to deviate traffice frm SQ and other major carriers...
Trust me a good cheap fare is a very gud incentive to migrate to an other airline for leisure travellers.. _________________ Expeditors- You'd be surprised how far we will go for you www.expeditors.com |

Yes QF codeshares on the mumbai flight as well .... and also interestingly the 9W flight and the QF flight from BOM leave within a gap of 2 hrs |

I totally agree with VABBy about the marketing bit. Nowadays even more important than the product is how the product is presented and its perception in the market.

flew 9W from Singapore to Mumbai last night - full flight with all 16 seats in Club sold out and economy also pretty much full (couldnt see more than 5-6 empty middle seats)..SQ also was sold out on Club that evening on the same route...so i think a clear benefit of flying the A330 is the ability to fly more club premiere passengers - from 16 to 32 or 38 (not sure)..also some consumers do have a preference for wide body aircraft and it should help 9W overcome the perception barriers vis-a-vis SQ.
So the demand is clearly there.
However, their chennai -Sin loads are quite poor. But chennai-KUL is doing very well - i think the day timing is possibly seen as negative for the chennai - sin flight (i personally think its great allowing one to get a nights sleep ahead of a business day).
the reason they are linking the Mumbai-Sin and Chennai-Sin is that the aircraft are linked - Two aircraft do the Mumbai-Singapore-Chennai-Colombo-Chennai-Kul-Chennai-Sin-Mumbai rotation. I suspect Kul will also get upgraded to teh A330 with the good loads but not sure if colombo will be so lucky. |

its all about the economies.... The 330 is far more economical on that sector than a 738. the cost per seat comes down significantly. |
