Its now official... sitting on the notice board last night was the official confirmation for our operational shift in 747-400 operations to the new standard business class version offering the new business class with flat beds.
Details as follows:
FRA-BOM-FRA LH756/LH757 starts 16th Feb 2007
FRA-BLR-FRA LH754/Lh755 starts 02nd Mar 2007
FRA-MAA-FRA LH758/LH759 starts 15th Mar 2007
this will complete the new offering throughout all our routes serving India.
DEL-FRA / DEL-MUC / HYD-FRA / CCU-FRA are already equipped with flatbeds.
The product and publicity brouchers will be coming in by Feb 2007.
As per our information there are also road-shows being planned to showcase the product to our agents and corporates alike at 2 of our biggest markets for corporate travel ie BOM and PNQ sometime in March/April 2007.
so for a lot of people complaining of "neglect" .. i think this will sooth their opinion?

we wont know until India and Germany review their bilateral.. i think some discussions are scheduled to take place this year..
we are looking to increase frequency and that is no secret.. whether we decide to increase it from current online stations or start new ones will also be influenced by the agreement without doubt..

D-ABTH: Any update on LH operating to PNQ?
LH and UL are 2 foreign carriers to have got the approval top operate here and I did a backflip the other when I saw a LH ticket counter being set up on the far left side of the "being renovated" PNQ terminal.
The RWY is being extended to 10500 feet so i presume their A340 can land here. So can I hope for a FRA-PNQ anytime soon? _________________ http://www.cougar-rides.com

Very interesting. I think we can expect an announcement from LH soon The \y have mentioned things in teh past as we are eyeing "another city in MH" and also Pune is a very impt market for us. I would speculate a 3x per week service FRA-PNQ is likely with an A340-300. unless they decide to introduce their A330's to India. It also looks like Jet Airways will beat LH to AMD with their interest of serving the Gujju's. That LHR-AMD flight will definetly take a lot of AI's passengers. _________________ -Vikram |

sorry i didnt reply earlier.. but whatever info ul seem to have from the media or otherwise on fiming up PNQ is news to me especially considering how everyone except us has it almost "firmed" up
PNQ is a far shot i would say personally.. on the other hand AMD does look good.. again you can quote only me.. thinking logically from pov of infrastructure, demand, proximity to BOM wise (leaving aside the bilateral permissions for new routes) PNQ might be a long shot for the time being.. yes we see a lot of Corporate travel from PNQ... but its nothing when compared to the feed we get from Guj and the South on their own! PNQ also has a lot of regulatory issues i understand with regards to operations of the Air Force Base and other strategic installations which compound the infrastructural issues.. but like i said.. im really not one to care about these news snippets including statements from us on what new ones we would liek to open... i just pay attention when we firm things up
please do understand that nothing official on our part has been communicated on other destinations for now except for potential routes.. heck if we had our way i'd say all the way from GOI to JAI would be awesome! lol.. but i know better.. speculation is just that... speculation unless it comes from the horse's mouth.. i know there was a lot of hype on the A.net forums for ATQ.. which really had all of us highly amused!
but in any case.. i only care if it comes through official channels that i can trust.. or else they're just words in the wind... free to blow everywhere and anywhere _________________ If it aint Boeing.. I aint going. |

look at www.arliners.net---in the civil aviation/general aviation section under topic: Indian Aviation Thread 41. A member posted 9W official documents indicated that the service is likely to start in March subjet to approvals as usual. But 9W is not typically the one that throws out routes unless they mean it. Hi D-ABTH - thanks for the excellent thread with lots of solid information.
So it sounds like FRA-PNQ has to wait for a little while then, though FRA-AMD might take off sooner than later??
Any idea on how the loads/yields to HYD are doing? Is the station proving to be a good bet? |

Another question for D-ABTH - what's the word on your street regarding the tie-up with AI and with the chance of getting AI into the *A? Esp given that now Skyteam has approached IC? Does LH/*A still see value in AI by itself?
I understand you may not have official answers, but would be interested to know the coffee-table gossip! |

That's great.
Hope they can get good connections into US now.
I know a friend in ORD got a tkt on 9W where the ORD-LHR was on UA.
I think the day is finally near where going to AMD , BOM can be skipped. ( I know that SQ, KU, in future QR and if you can manage AI you can in an a convoluted way) .

reg the first question.. indeed i would think a new point in Gujarat would be the next big bet since we get phenomenal crowds into the US from there.. of all AMD is the biggest bet.. i think AMD will also be one of the first in that state to get a spanking new terminal and better facilities.. so lets see
reg the second question.. well theres actually no word on the street that i know of .. though il have to speak to someone i know in AI planning and let you know.. AI for all the hoopla surrounding the new merger and modernisation is really a circus at the staff level (airport ops/handling/systems). The conditions to be fulfilled in order to satisfy the Star Alliance requirements are pretty tough as it is (dunno abt the other alliances.. so cant comment) and honestly seeing them close up... they've got a long way to go.. their staff attitude and mannerisms are their biggest weakness i'd say but then again as long as they're the govt's puppet.. you cant expect much.. this will be the single biggest factor going against them.
If i find anything i will let you know.
also regarding HYD.. indeed we are doing well.. i havent checked loads specifically.. but i know were really packed earlier this month.. infact all our stations have been.. even the inbound loads are overbooked in Business class for days as close as this sat/sunday!!. HYD does see good loads in general... specifics i dont have.. though i could tell you the bookings for next week if you wish.
@ Bomboy.. the 2nd connection BOM-MUC has been rumoured for a very long time... it has come up for the last 2 years non stop id say.. but then again there are factors to it that we are not really told nor are concerned.. but i think it would have to again do with the bilateral agreements between Germany and India.. its a wait and watch on that too. _________________ If it aint Boeing.. I am curious about how the B 747-400 loads into BLR are doing??? Now that LH is daily (as well as AF adn BA from Europe) Its great that BLR has so much traffic if they are all going full! Then the new airport will definetly be worth it all I hope!
I see that the B 747-400 is continuing to BLR until Winter 2007 schedule. Are the loads that high in business class adn eco during the so called "slow months" Feb, March, April??? Also from Winter 2007 the A340-600 is in the schedules for BLR--that should be nice. _________________ -Vikram |

Anecdotal at best, but now I'm able to get confirmed reservations on LH ex-BLR with very short notice. Definitely means they're no longer overbooked as in the past. Whether they're going empty - I don't know, but I doubt it. There's enough year-around load to BLR, since it's not VFR traffic, it's predominantly business traffic (techies being shipped around the world, and first world managers coming to India to supervise their offshore ops). |

the Feb loads are lighter than what Jan has been... the pressure is easing off.. even for BOM..

D-ABTH - Did you manage to find out the loads ? Can you check for Apr too ?I was not able to get AD75 to BLR for both outbound and return - Feb 14-20 ( DFW-FRA-BLR ) and APR 8-9 (BLR-FRA-DFW).. From this I would imagine the loads are pretty good. |

yes... AD75 is called an Agent Discount Ticket... 75% waived.. its like a non rev status..
@mahan.. i will check tonight..
BTW... the flatbeds have already started making frequent visits here well before the 16th... as of this morning and tomorrow the 16/66/270s are operating... as was one on th 7th..
one of the rarer registrations -VX operated this morning.. now with flatbeds for BOM.. the regs that used to be very rare on this route should come in more often _________________ If it aint Boeing.. I aint going. |
