It's definitely IATA.
Moreover, this has been discussed in another thread regarding AI's new 772LR. _________________ Nalini... The Princess of the Sky... You are a star which will continue to illuminate your own A.net-India forever... |

Air india in Star Alliance? Sheeks! How can someone even think of that? I think only airlines of acertain standard are welcomed into a alliance, and Air India has no standard!
From this post it would seem that some folks allow their fantasies to overtake reasoning! _________________ http://www.cougar-rides.com

Not quite, Mr Cougar!
AI is poised to join Star Alliance after its merger with IC in April '07.
Although AI has not received formal communication from Star regarding this, there have been discussions on this for a long time.
Please read the following article from the Economic Times website:

Air-India to wing it into Star Alliance
MUMBAI: After years of being a standalone carrier in the international aviation industry where airlines are rapidly aligning in various groups, Indian flag carrier Air-India is all set to join the Star Alliance. A top-level Star Alliance team, led by the CEO Jaan Albrecht, is currently at the Air-India headquarters in Mumbai for discussions on the modalities of the inclusion. |

Well, Varig was in Star Alliance for years. At least Air India is still solvent.
That having been said, that logo on the new 777LR is NOT a star alliance logo. Its the IATA logo. |

Hmmm Merger with IC...Star Alliance... all speculation and not a possibility atleast in the short term future.
The merger with IC is a pathetic plan cooked up PP and his cohorts in a Pvt carrier and aint going to happen any time soon. Wait ill the civic elections in Maharashtra get over and we will see that corrupt PP being turfed out of the CAM and along with that his stupid plan to merge IC and AI will be thankfully laid to rest.
A merger isnt going to benefit anybody: infact it will be like placing a millstone called AI around the neck of a profitable airline like IC, crippling it further in its battle with 9W. This is why Naresh Goyal is salivating at the prospect of a merger! So its best this stupid half-assed plan is given a quiet burial. Air India is ofcourse a dead horse, a lost case. It has to be shut down, to that there is no option. but why pull IC down as well?
As for Star alliance, lets just wait and see! My bet is for IC joining Skyteam as an individual entity. _________________ http://www.cougar-rides.com
