|
|
This was a pretty last minute type of trip - I had to present for 30 minutes at the "network security summit" event in Mumbai. Plus we had a stall there that I had to set up and man for the whole day.
I booked tickets via ezeego1.com - as they claim to offer a 50% cash back on Platimum cards. I'm still waiting for the cash back amount - hopefully it'll show up in a few weeks time
I've posted my flight details in the PIN up section, but essentially I was flying on IC's 5 pm flight to BOM, and returning on their 9 pm flight from BOM.
On the departure date I got a call at about 10 or 11 am informing me that the flight was delayed by 30 minutes. Full marks to IC for keeping passengers informed so far in advance!
I reached the airport around 4 pm, tried the electronic check in machine - but it did not work There were a couple of IC crew trying to get it to work, but no luck. So off to the normal check in counter, where checkin was quick, but there were no window seats available.
After check in I headed up to the Ashok restaurant for a couple of cool beers. Just before boarding I cleared security only to find a further 15-20 minutes delay to the schedule.
Boarding was via gate 1 - and we were taken in a bus to our a/c.
Shot of boarding gate 1
New AI livery buses at BLR
Random Tarmac shot
Taxiing to our stand, we passed by VT-JNS on stand 8 on Apron 1.
Another shot of VT-JNS
View of the birds on our stand - we had a rather scenic route to get to this stand.
Passing by VT-KAH
And VT-KAC
Our neighbor
The a/c was VT-ESA. The main flight attendants in our section of Y were Mr. Vijay and Mr. Rajesh Naik.
We started taxi at 1800, heading north from our parking bay, then east on main taxiway. Entered active from E2 behind an IT ATR (intersection departure for the ATR). I saw that the Taxitrack from E2 to E1 was under repairs hence every one had to enter 27 at E2.
Captian was Mr. Nagesh munaswamy.
On E2, we waited for a landing DN 320, then entered active to backtrack. Our taxi was fairly quick followed by a 180 at the end (clockwise turn). It was a rolling take off (no wait after our 180 turn) but a longish 45 seconds roll, rotated around gate 4 of apron 1. No other AC visible in a queue behind us.
100% full in Y, no drinks before take off, only candies, cotton. There was not much congestion in overhead lockers.
Interior shot of our a/c - VT-ESA - in the interim IC livery
Time pass in the form of reading the papers
Take off was at 18:10 (compared to planned 1715, revised 1745).
We cleared cloud cover at around 1817, and then the seat belt signs were turned off.
Seemed like there were only male FAs in Y, though I could see one lady in J.
Dinner at served at 1835, Veg or NV were the choices.
LSG catered dinner - Wasn't too good I just say - the "puffs" were basically grease, and the chicken tikkas were burnt on the outside but uncooked on the inside. Shame on LSG...
More notes from the flight:
FA Rajesh had a hand written daily pass from the AAI, but it was dated 7 Aug 07!
According to what I could catch from the captains address, we were at 34k ft, .74 MACH, had crossed bellary, will cross pnq before approaching BOM. Clear skies at BOM, no turbulence en-route.
Trays were cleared at 1855, very quickly done. FA Sumit joined as well, maybe from J?. Another male FA was also helping, but he was without a name tag!
We experienced mild turbulence at 1910, and the seat belt signs were turned on and announcements were made in hindi and english.
1920 - "crew to landing stations" Announcements made.
1923 - something deployed (is it slats or flaps?). Noticed the a/c slowing down considerably.
Furthur braking in the next couple of seconds (how's that done?).
1924 we are very low can see the lights from the ground very clearly and close by.
1925 Very rough landing and a very bumpy taxi... Landed on the runway with the Intl terminal at our right.
We exited right from the main runway and the outside temperature was 30C. Finally parked at a remote gate and were bussed to the terminal building.
On the whole the flight was rather good - brisk and business like. It helped that the a/c was in decent shape! And the price for this sector was definitely awesome - much much cheaper than 9W or IT!
Return TR to follow in a couple of hours/day! |

Nice TR.
There doesn't seem to be anything new about the AI bus. Still has the Centaur, and the old one --- shooting the arrow horizontal!

Great TR! short and simple! lol.... even lowering of the gear causes alot of retardation because of the excessive drag caused by the gear!

In my experience whenever I have felt a deceleration it was due to the spoilers. You won't hear them actually deploy, but you will certainly hear what happens once they do.
That being said if it was only 2 mins prior to landing it could very well be the gear or the last notches of flaps.
Leaving BLR at 1800- leaving BOM at 2100, miracle you got anything done.

TE flaps at 40 units can create the same effect too.
The Give away of the Gear extension & lock is the rowling sound caused by Hydraulic actuator & uplock releasing.

That's true - it just seemed new and different from the old IC buses I guess

I don't have a clue - Crew320 - were you on this flight by any chance or do you know of any of the crew members that were on my flight?
Spoilers it probably was - it was the first of the de-accelerations on our flight.
I did use my standard Canon P&S to take the pictures, my cell phone does not have a camera Luckily no one bothered me this time taking pictures, except FA Rajesh on board!
The landing at BOM was really crappy, and if its because of a bad runway, I wonder why they don't fix it? |

Worst landing i had at BOM was on a Kuwait Airways A340 back in 1995. The plane actually landed twice .The second contact was somewhere close to the 14/32 intersection and we braked like HELL.
The cabin vibration was one of the Most Intense I've ever witnessed.
Incidentally, I had a similar experience on another A340, this time Lufthansa , at JFK. The culprit here was rain and crosswind, and the Canarsie approach |

It's a scam. 50% cash back is only on the basic fare. Anyway something is better than nothing. _________________ Save Maharashtra! |

Nice TR Nimish,
No guys, I wasn't on this flight. I believe this flight is operated by the BLR base crew, and with the number of male attendants on board, I'm sure it is. IC recently went through a recruitment drive for cabin crew in the Southern region and one of those batches was all guys

Could be one of the new FAs as it takes a while for the name plates to be made with the Roster names.
Cheers !

i want u to publicize the loo pic, ul have many takers waiting for such enticing leaks in the corporate world & that too with aviation bursting at its seems & the digested fact that AI/IC is at the bottom of the strata from the likes of blr/bom mirrors, toi, etimes, ..
what a shame, a trunk route getting a shabby plane & the service legendary(here i mean age old, with the same cotton bud, cheap candy, greasy stuff to eat, stains everywhere..) even the domestic delta, american, united, nwa had fewer stuff to complain about.
anyone tried the 77L, 'the nonstop'? |
