Now down to 11.
MOst of the 737s will be made freighters --- in fact 5 are already undergoing conversion.

There is some confusion about CD's turboprop fleet as Air India Express says it will review the fleet order.
Embrear did not respond to CDs tender for upto 12 turboprops, so it may go in for CRJs, but just 6 of them.

The Dorniers and the ATRs stay.
CD will merge with Air India Express and will be positioned in between a full service carrier and an LCC. There will be a complimentray snack service like how it is being done on AIX currently.
This is to take on Air Deccan and Jet Lite. Incidentally, Air Deccan and Jet Lite may be granted permission to fly regional. Jetlite is looking at places like Kathmandu, Colombo and Dhaka.

The AIX+CD combine will also play a hub and spoke role with the main Air India+Indian carrier. This is to eventually carry Air India pax into the interiors of India.
AIX intends to utilise CD's reach for this -- which is where the ATRs, CRJs and Dorneris will come in handy.
