Who is the flight targeting - JAI pax going to SE Asia (surely KL isn't a big destination for them) or SE Asia pax wanting to go to JAI? This seems like an odd flight |

True. Particularly true when some people think that even MAA-KUL is not worth operating daily. _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

Dude - those people are just RM employees.
When AK/D7 and OD sell dirt-cheap fares and use their onward network to leverage their flights - Indian carriers have zero advantage in already low-yielding, but high-volume market between India & Malaysia.
As for this particular flight - I think its very ballsy - Scoot dropped out of using their 787s and now uses an A320 for this flight - so I'm not particularly convinced this flight will last for long.
Maybe D7 should look at Amritsar instead - Scoot seems to doing okay there. _________________ |

RM Employees, as in? _________________ Causal Determinism : We are hardwired to need answers. The Caveman who heard a rustle in the bushes and checked out to see what it was, lived longer than the guy, who assumed it was just a breeze.

Apologies for not being clear, I meant to ask what was being implied by that statement. _________________ Causal Determinism : We are hardwired to need answers. Indian carriers have zero presence anywhere in Southeast Asia beyond BKK and SIN. Almost the same story in the People's Republic. Perhaps they are preoccupied fighting out one other in the domestic market.
SriLankan and multiple Bangladeshi carriers serve KUL. Although, it is worth noting that the DAC-KUL market is enormous, far larger than MAA-KUL for example.
Beyond Malaysia, SriLankan began with a 320 on the CMB-CGK route, but they've upgauged to a 330. Same story I believe for CMB-CAN. There must be some feed from Southern India on these and other flights such as CMB-MEL which is now starting up.
I'd agree that a 320 may be a better fit for KUL-JAI.
Singapore Airlines dropped ATQ for Scoot to take over. In any case Singapore is a much larger p2p market from any Indian city than Kuala Lumpur is. |
