To Jaysit, Caliguy, IAH87, sshank, jbalonso777, Sabya99, 747-237 and the others, what are your views on Trump's election?

Do you think he will be another nightmare like George Bush, or is he actually better than he sounds?

What about all the racist attacks that have been reported since his election, and the mass migration to Canada? Any truth in them?

George Bush was an establishment Republican and is quite likely a statesman by comparison with this crooked buffoon.

Very few people will actually move to Canada.

The racism and bigotry of his white nationalist supporters is very, very real, and may likely manifest itself in his policies and initiatives.

We're also now a vassal state of Russia thanks to the idiotic US press who were too busy reporting on whether Hillary's emails may or may not have established what she had for lunch in 2011 instead of reporting on this man's suspicious dealings with Russia.

In the end, I doubt very much if the US Congress will support Trump's anti-free trade BS, and his idiotic supporters will get increasingly mad at him for not giving them back their union jobs that have moved to China and Mexico and [insert name of country here]. Screw them. They're fat, intellectually lazy, bigoted, and will end up just as unemployed or underemployed as they've always been.

Oh, and his wife is, and will always remain a barely educated Slovenian gold digger who flashed her fake tits in two-bit girlie mags.

So, that's it folks. We have a President who lost $1 billion in one year, likely never paid taxes, brags about "grabbing women by their p***y," cheated middle class vendors galore, ran a fraudulent "university," established a fake charity that paid for expensive portraits of himself and his legal fees, makes fun of disabled people. Oh, and we also have a Slovenian purported "escort" as First Lady.

And you thought Mamata Banerjee and Laloo and Rahul Gandhi and Bal Thackeray were bad.

Cya in 4 years.

a lot will depend how Republican Congressmen hold his strings.... and he is doing another Sonia Gandhi/Congress by asking for access to classified/security status for his kids...... more and more nations in the world would want immunity from POTUS. Why should we suffer from someone we couldn't choose...

@ Mr.Goat, I am glad that you initiated such a discussion in this esteemed forum! All through the election campaign I used to compare Trump with reincarnated Mr.Regan. But he is younger, may be less emotional and far more proficient in deal making business. Both opted for patriotism/ ultra nationalism as stepping stone for their Presidency. But I agree with Trump in one issue; at all cost American smoke stack industry or manufacturing sector must be protected. A country as large as USA cannot survive only on service sector. Some amount of protectionism must be introduced otherwise neo-Nazi elements will control politics. This may lead to immigration cut down, downsizing H visa numbers or even import control. May be US will become isolationist society again ( I hope it does not go that far )! I think he will be cautious in using US forces around the globe. I don’t’ think he is war monger and will remember that his Presidency is based on electoral college victory but not on the popular voting pattern.. No one will be US president just by using wemen liberation slogans

American smoke stack industries are dead. You can't bring them back. And most of us don't want to breathe dirty air and drink filthy polluted water - even those who voted for Trump.

Also, the US isn't surviving on the service sector alone. Our largest exports in terms of dollar values are large aircraft and their power plants, as well as information technology, and innovative pharma products.

As far as limits on H1B visas are concerned, there will be a lot of white nationalist talk, but the reality is that we don't produce enough engineers and programmers in this country to meet our needs. So, US businesses will push back against Trump and his white nationalist goons.

Being a northerly neighbour, I watched the US election very closely. I particularly liked when Trump said every country has to pay up their share of the cost to NATO those who are asking for NATO's protection. No free meal any more.

On one hand, US is running trillions of dollars of deficit and on the other hand there are some free-loaders in Europe (Eastern & Baltic states) crying wolf about an imaginary enemy. Hillary would have maintained the status quo. Trump being a businessman first, will ask for payment upfront.

Like it or not, US can't and shouldn't be the world's only policeman who is bankrolled by countries like Saudi Arabia or China who purchase the unlimited supply of treasury bonds that US uses to stay afloat and pass on the debt to the future generations.

Trump has already backtracked on many of his promises. It is unlikely there will be a wall between Mexico and US (may be just for a few parts) as Congress does not have or will pay for it.

On healthcare, Trump already wants to keep a key provision, insuring those with preexisting conditions, but if you insure these, how is the insurance company going to pay for it, they need healthy persons to balance the claims.

On trade issues, I doubt very much that Trump can or will put tariffs on China or Mexico, as the Republican congress is also against it. Those manufacturing jobs which have left are never coming back. Trump lied during the campaign (among many of his lies).

In fact if Trump keeps all his promises, it will wreck the economy of US.
