May it is time for AI (and Jet too) to take a lead and distinguish themselves by advertising that it does charge fees for seat selection. Either that or join the party and start charging seat selection fees.

QR and EY may not be far behind.

LH already does it too.

and in Y, it is bloody annoying to see someone else sitting on the seat you selected and paid extra for, just because he/she has a child or wants to be close to his/her family. Always happens on flights to India.
