So just checked my reservation for Xmas and it seems that AF has upgraded their CDG-BOM service to a 772 with their new J class. This marks a huge increase in Y capacity but staying flat in J and adding a few seats in perm econ. While it might be too big a plane for the route, all I can say is FINALLY to having AF provide a competitive product in J. Their A332 had horrible angle flat seats. Any idea why AF did this (other than the obvious to stay competitive)? AF did this for BLR last winter (and wouldn't think that BLR needed the Y capacity). Also I think this upgrade is only for the peak winter period. I wonder if their partnership with Jet is working. My mom loves leaving India on Jet's BOM-CDG flight and then continuing on to JFK on AF. She feels the ~11am departure from BOM is very civilized.

On a side note, anyone have luck booking with Delta sky miles the Jet flights from AMS-India or a domestic connector on Jet after arriving on KLM or AF? Its frustrating that Delta said we could book award tickets on some Jet flights, but don't seem to be able to.

They're also having a great sale in J on US-BOM flights - only $2499 R/T on select routes.

Being the AA mileage whore that I am, however, I opted for QR instead (costs more, but comes with AA miles).

That's a crazy good price (although not seeing from NYC). That said I am booked on EY in their Apartment for my christmas trip to BOM. I have to say I wouldn't change that for even a $2k J ticket. Can't wait for the flight (got it for the old 90K AA F redemption). And am looking forward to AF's new J seat on my flight to spain from India. Get to try out some new products.
