Continuing our discussion from WhatsApp, our respective takes on possible 9W 330 regional ops,
AbV posted

Quote:
Jet to add Airbus A330-200 to the following sectors

9W544/543 BOM-DXB-BOM
9W542/541 BOM-DXB-BOM

1) BOM-DXB-BOM-DXB-BOM

Schedule changes for 9W548/547

9W548 DEL2000 - 2215DXB 332 D

9W547 DXB2330 - 0430+1DEL 332 D

9W7044/357 DEL-BOM-DEL

2) DEL-BOM-DEL-DXB-DEL

9W522/521 BOM-JED-BOM
9W629/630 BOM-CCU-BOM

3) BOM-JED-BOM-CCU-BOM

9W524/523 BOM-RUH-BOM
9W397*/450 BOM-BLR-BOM
9W481**/482*** BOM-MAA-BOM

*preponed by 20 mins
**delayed by 50 mins
***delayed by 1 hour & 15 mins

4) BOM-RUH-BOM-BLR-BOM-MAA-BOM

1) Accepted.

2) Instead of afternoon runs on DEL-BOM-DEL, plane does 9W 546/545 (DEL-DXB-DEL, leaving 1130 instead of 1230, back by 1840), does 9W 301 / 354 (0700 BOM DEL / 2000 DEL BOM).

BOM DEL DXB DEL BOM
Peak hour departures on BOM DEL BOM, BOM DXBs best performing service is the morning 9 am departure, thus 1130 from DEL doesn't present that much risk.

3) Agree with the rotation, just push 9W 630 to a 1330 departure, ensure 100% NE-BOM traffic at this hour pulls into this flight and get a scoop of the CCU-BOM-Gulf connections too.

4) Focus on one, either BOM MAA BOM or BOM BLR BOM,

do BOM BLR (8 am ish), BLR BOM (1900 ish dep), you hit the peak at both ends.

If connections from both ends permit, do a BLR DEL BLR afternoon run, but tag in all that is possible from BLR (COK/IXE atleast), and ATQ/IXC/DED/SXR/LHR from DEL to BLR.

This thus becomes
BOM BLR DEL BLR BOM RUH BOM

Very tight, which is why we have a plane based overnight in BOM (rotation #2).

My 2 p's on your take.

Would post my own thoughts over the weekend, but everyone please chip in.

RiS

I'd rule out DXB since its allocated seats and to upguage one or two flights to a332, they would have to drop a flight or frequencies on one of the other flights to DXB
Saudi and Bangkok would make sense particularly since JED and RUH are frequency controlled with any aircraft up to 747 allowed. Here JED makes sense because on a hot day BOM JED on a 739 would be pushing its limits

If it's a 2 aircraft rotation, it will likely replace the 2 739s doing this rotation but with slightly altered times allowing for an a332 turn at 80 minutes rather than 60 on intl 737 and 40 on domestic

Bom 1800 Jed 2120
Jed 2240 BOM 0610

Bom 0830 Bkk 1415 1535 Sgn 1710
Sgn 1830 Bkk 2000 2130 Bom 0020

Bom 0150 Bkk 0730
Bkk 0900 Bom 1155

This allows for consistent WB product to Bkk where economy yields admittedly may be poor but the current product likely discourages any premium bookings vs TG.

If only one aircraft then one possible schedule could be

Bom 1800 Jed 2120
Jed 2230 Bom 0600

Bom 0730 del 0940
Del 1100 Bom 1310

This replaces 303/358

Or
Bom 0730 Blr 0910
Blr 1030 Bom 1210
This would be a new flight that fills the current gap in BOM BLR between 0635 and 0900 which 6e is making the most of.
This then releases 2 739s to upguage other domestic runs and possibly a few intl ops as well

Wait, that's not true. Indian carriers have more than 15,000 seats left in their allotments -

2x 737s - 2,352 seats pw

2x A330s - 3,556 seats pw

Difference of about 1,204 seats - easy to get that allotment considering how much unused seats are left

Not bad, but BKK is really trash yield. 9W'd rather put this to SIN to make it work.

Rishul - Your ideas sound pretty good too, do you think slots would be a problem?
