A UNI report (Dec. 27) says after IIM, Ahmedabad, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav is now set to bowl over business students of Harvard and Wharton. Today the B-school students will meet Lalu at Rail Bhawan here, to get a feel of the much-publicised Indian Railways’ success story.
A group of 100 students from Harvard Business School in the first half and 37 from Wharton in the second half will benefit from Lalu’s views on ‘‘The Strategy and Policy Framework for the Turn Round of Indian Railways’’, that he will share with them. According to sources, Lalu will add his ’socialistic nuances’ to the entire interaction, something that would be of more interest to the faculty of these foreign universities.
After ’theoretical’ classes, Lalu may add ’practical’ classes for these students, as he is reportedly planning to take them to different railway stations to highlight the changes that he has brought about in the Railways. Lalu’s leadership qualities are also expected to come up for a discussion among the undergraduates.
For this, the homework has already been done with teams of professors and various railway establishments. Officers have under gone number of crunching sessions to present the success story of the Railways in an appropriate manner. Lalu is also expected to support this ‘‘success story’ with a power point presentation, inclusive of graphs and tables in sync with ’international standards.’’
The foreign faculties have expressed their desire to know how Lalu converted the loss making Railways into a Rupees 2000 crore profit making organisation within two years, without downsizing the staff or increasing the fares. Corporate entities across the world have also shown interest in the Indian Railways turnaround story, and Harvard is expected to make it a ’case study’ under the Business and Government section.
The Railway Minister appears keen to shed his ’comical’ image and has turned serious in his bid to erase skepticism about his achievements, says the report. Smile

Do people really believe he had anything to do with the profits of the railways.

IMO, this is what he did? He and his goons decided that they will loot the railways a bit less so they can show the rest as profit Laughing

Cant believe the intelligentia class of India can fall for this.

Cheers

Anyway, he's off to Harvard and Wharton soon.
12 universities in the US have invited for a lecture series.

Laloo is also off on a tour of Europe to study fast trains.
(May be his IIM son-in-law and the other IA pilot s-i-l are giving him tips!!!) Wink
