Bahrain's Gulf Air to resume Hyderabad flights in December

22 October 2014

Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, on Wednesday announced that it will resume flights to Hyderabad, the fourth most populous city in India, in December.

Following its successful resumption of operations to Thiruvananthapuram last year, Gulf Air said in a statement that it will launch five weekly flights to Hyderabad, starting on December 15.

Bahrain's state-backed airline stopped its services to Hyderabad in 2009 as part of a cost-cutting strategy.

The airline’s acting CEO Maher Salman Al Musallam said: “We are further strengthening our Indian operations after the successful launch of flights to Thiruvananthapuram in December 2013.

"Now with the addition of Hyderabad, our sixth Indian destination, we are connecting south-central India to the Middle East – and we hope this route will appeal to travellers and be just as successful as our existing India operations.”

Gulf Air also flies to Cochin, Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai in India and will be operating an A320 on the new Hyderabad route.

Schedule: -

GF276 BAH1410 - 2040HYD 320 26

GF275 HYD1025 - 1235BAH 320 157

Should connect to GCC/Iran and EU perfectly.

Great to see Gulf Air back in HYD. Hopefully GF will add CCJ and IXE (Fingers crossed Razz )

May be a minor point, HYD may be the fourth most populous city (based on city limits), but is the sixth largest metro area in India, which is more relevant for market size.

I like the timings though, for a change the timings are good from India and not so good from BAH. Also GF used to fly to CCU and BLR too.

Well, GF's focus has shifted to focusing on GCC alone, rather than chase the EU/NA traffic. These flights will connect to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, two very popular markets in GCC after UAE.

Every time I flew GF from BLR,one notable aspect was the sheer number of maids flying out to gulf (mostly from TN and AP). While you will find them in almost all Gulf bound flights, the brute majority on GF was rather surprising. This was back in the days when MCT and AUH were still GF hubs.

Perhaps GF was the cheapest option that particular season.

Consistently and this was before the EK invasion - GF was the only ME carrier into BLR at that time.

Also plan to resume neighbouring countries as part of this plan.
