Nice TR.
Yup tiny basic lounge, there must be a reason it's pre security?
How was the gone fish curry
I'm sure the main was good but the salad and desert looks like it could have been served at any canteen.
What's the config of their 77Ls .... are they 2 class now? _________________ eP007 |

I think the lounge is the airport lounge converted into AI lounge. There is not much space to operate a lounge post security, reason why there are not enouch lounges in Terminal 1.
77Ls are still 3 class with 8 F, 35J as premium seats _________________ Check out my Indian aviation rants and raves at www.livefromalounge.com |

Ajay, it is nice to hear from you on this section on the forum! Thanks for sharing two nice reports with us. First, it is nice to know that you are an AI Gold Club member (it is great that you got it on a status match!), and that you did forego an `international domestic' experience, the little things that excite crazy travellers like me, who do not fly international that much. Anyway, a wide-body experience from T1-A also sounds exciting, since it involves a nice bus ride around Santa Cruz and Sahar.
The lounge experience: this looks a bit on the spartan side, given that even an occasional lounge entrant like Yours Truly, liked even the stop-gap cordoned-off gate area at CSIA T2. I had seen this lounge after being `ushered in' by a colleague in 2001: it was even more spartan back then, and all my colleague wanted to do then was have an output session, he was not interested in any input, sadly. I had taken an unusual interest in the newspapers back then. Thank you for the report, even if I get lucky with an upgrade, or get a shock status ever, I will keep your review in mind!
The Air India delay due to equipment switch, and a round of the airport area, sounds disappointing, but somewhat usual. It was nice to hear of your automatic gate upgrade! I have never been that lucky, ever. You have posted some very nice pictures (as usual!) of the AI B77L: we are seeing the inside of a B77L on this forum after quite a bit of time, since the type was relegated to more fire-fighting duties, than regular money-drainer flights, in the current configuration. Which B77L were you on? From what I know, AI has one B77L stored at BOM, and the second B77L is `Maharashtra', nearly ready to operate. One is made available on the fire-fighting duties, now that the A332s have been returned.
I have seen better printed menus on AI J class in 2012:
Silver (Edge) Lining to Dream, Meaning Business, Dec'12
http://www.airlinersindia.s4.bizhat.com/airlinersindia-ftopic13278.html
That menu card was majestic, and the food...exquisite.
The presentation again, is not quite J-esque, with the Aluminium trays, wrappers and the works, but the meal quality indeed looks like what I remember of my two times in AI J, domestic: fabulous. It is also unfortunate to hear about the `priority' part: on the whole, I have had some good personal experiences on this, when Junior was much younger.
Thank you once again for sharing a nice TR: we look forward to more from you on this forum!
Cheers, Sumantra. |

Hi Sumantra,
trying to come here more often , and I'll keep trying. watch out for vistara inaugural flight TR on the blog soon.
I think I flew Maharashtra itself.
I don't mind the go over to the international terminal, but yes, they did not have their act together. _________________ Check out my Indian aviation rants and raves at www.livefromalounge.com |
