My parents will reach BLR by 8pm (Indigo from Gau). I am trying to book them a travels to coimbatore. I can see two options: KPN at 11.15 from Kalasipalayam; ABT from Madiwala at 11:30.
Can any of you please suggest which place (Kalasipalayam or Madiwala) is quicker to reach by taxi from BIAL?.
Thanks a lot. |

I would think Kalasipalayam. Should be about 4-5 Km from MG Road. |

Pretty much all buses to Coimbatore will go via the Madiwala route. I'd actually recommend KSRTC, heard very good things about them. However they don't seem to have a bus as late as is needed.
In terms of faster to reach - it's certainly Kalasipalyam - since it's much more central than Madiwala. However if your folks are getting late, they can always divert the taxi and head south to Madiwala instead. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

The KPN Bus will head to Bommanahalli (a few km from Madiwala on the Hosur Road) - so I suggest book KPN and have this as the back up. |

I would suggest Madiwala anytime.
a Not all buses start from Kalasipalayam and sometimes there will be just your parents to board the partiicular bus from there (if you chose that as the boarding point) and the rest will be from Madiwala. In such cases many operators will cancel their pick up from Kalasipalayam and while the reputable ones in such cases will send the pax in an auto at their own expense to Madiwala there have been cases where some operators have given excuses and forced people booked from K'plym to make their own way to Madiwala incurring a lot of extra cost and inconvenience.
b Many of the buses operating late night services (after 10 PM) are actually buses which come INTO Bangalore from CJB/MAA etc as afternoon services (leaving between 12-3 PM) from these cities. Again if the buses get delayed on their way in, they will just terminate at Madiwala and go back from there itself instead of coming to K'plym.
c The area from where the buses start in K'plym is a mess and difficult to navigate unless you know your way around. In many cases the traffic police will not allow at hte last minute the buses to come to their desingated boarding point and then you have to walk with your luggage to find your bus parked some distance away through a very crowded area. I know of people who have missed KPN buses from there due to this issue. Most of their buses start from their garage at Wilson Garden (Shanti Nagar) and do not come to K'plym.
4 Also not all KPN huses used to come to Madiwala, most of them used to start from Wilson Garden and come directly to Bommanahalli. Hence TRIPLE CHECK.
Also why dont you try SRS travels?. They have a AC sleepr leaving Kalasipalayam at 11 PM (and which reaches Madiwala at 1130 PM). SRS is a reputed operator, they have a well established easily identifiable office (everyone in the area knows the place) in Kalasipalayam and even in case in the last minute the bus starts from Madiwala they will ensure that your parents will be given transportation by another of their buses (they have many) to Madiwala.
I agree with Nimish , KaSRTC is the best option but hteir last Volvo service at 10.30 PM from Shantinagar is a little risky. |

From what I know the strike finishes by 6 pm. There should be no problem getting a cab leaving the airport. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |
