No Restriction on Radio recievers.....On Transrecievers one needs a Radio licence for the Set & the Individual.
Why the query. _________________ Think of the Brighter side !!! |

There was no notice from the DGCA as far as I know.
However, the Brits who were arrested in Delhi for spotting were charged only for listening to the ATC "Intercepting government communications" under a 19th century act enacted by the British themselves.
So, in light of that it would be advisable not to use scanners in India. _________________ My Flickr photos

They were charged under the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885.
I am not sure of the exact section they were charged under, but the closest relevant section was S.25
25. Intentionally damaging or tampering with telegraphs – If any person, intending –
a) to prevent or obstruct the transmission or delivery of any message, or
b) to intercept or to acquaint himself with the contents of any message, or
c) to commit mischief,damages, removes, tampers with or touches any battery, machinery, telegraph line, post or other thing whatever, being part of or used in or about any telegraph or in the working thereof, he shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine or with both.
The Brits were incidentally fined 25K. _________________ My Flickr photos

hmmm... may be... but sounds crazzy...
cuz as defined by the act, we cannot even listen to FM radio..!!??
cuz according to the act:
"message" means any communication sent by telegraph, or given to
telegraph officer to be sent by telegraph or to be delivered;
if an ATC communication is a message, then does FM radio falls in the same category??!! _________________ Cheers
