Experts on the forum Smile

I may need to fly to Cork, Ireland (ORK) reaching there on 4th October, and I was trying to figure out a way to get there on *A. Any suggestions? I'd prefer the BLR-FRA flight, but will be OK with DEL-MUC, DEL-ZRH, DEL-VIE as well (given that T3 should be easy to use).

No Star carriers fly to Cork. So, your best bets would be BLR-FRA-DUB on LH, and then by road or on Aer Arann / Ryanair to ORK.

Or fly to one of major European airports and then take EI to ORK. No one flies FRA-ORK though, so a one-stop out of BLR on Star is not an option.

Non-Star one-stop possibilities are BLR-LHR-ORK and BLR-CDG-ORK.

Thanks Jasepl - Seems like *A has a total lack of presence at ORK. That sucks as I'd hate to be on BA again via LHR - given the lack of status or mileage earning opportunities...

Nimish, if you want to defi be on star alliance the way i look at it is

BLR-FRA-MAN-ORK-----MAN-ORK is on BMI Baby---not sure abt miles but atleast bulk of your journey will be on Star

Similarly

Connect via ZRH/MUC/FRA to GVA and catch an EI flight from GVA/BER to ORK

If i were you i would go

DEL-MUC on your all time fav LH and buy a seperate Ei flight from MUC-ORK

Karan

Thanks Karan - will keep BD via MAN in mind. Or probably just land up in Dublin and take the train to ORK. At least DUB is a one-stop via FRA!

Keep in mind that you'd have to go from Dublin Airport to the station by road - takes up to an hour, followed by a 3-hour train ride into Cork.

Ooh - thanks for that - did not realize it's a 1 hour hope from airport to station!

Karan, bmibaby do not fly to Cork, so that option won't work either.

I honestly think the best and easiest option would be to fly BLR-FRA-DUB, rent a car at Dublin Airport and be on your way.

Oh yes - never thought about that - it might be a good option indeed Smile. Unfortunately budget.com does not seem to offer GPS for hire in Ireland (this is my company's default rental company), but avis.com does...

Driving will definitely turn out to be the quickest least painful option. You also won't have to lug your bags around from airport to station etc and you also won't have to worry about missed connections / lost baggage / claim-and-recheck when you do non-alliance connections or separate tickets.

It should be a max 3 hour drive, mostly on the highway... Couldn't be easier.
