The Boeing 787 partial interiors and as shown on aircraft No. 3 during a tour that Boeing arranged.

Many of these will be used in aircraft.

Boeing Unveils First 787 Dreamliner Interior on 3rd Flight-Test Airplane
EVERETT, Wash., Feb. 3
Boeing (NYSE: BA) today publicly unveiled the first 787 Dreamliner to feature interior components. The third flight test airplane, ZA003, has a partial interior that provides a glimpse into the new flying experience the airplane will offer. Configured for flight-testing purposes, the interior includes instrumentation racks, flight-test equipment and workstations for engineers.

"This airplane is specifically configured to test the passenger experience elements of the airplane," said Tom Galantowicz, director of 787 Interiors, Commercial Airplanes. "Our engineers and flight-test team use a disciplined process to certify the various elements of the interior and conduct airplane-level verifications."

The interior includes 135 seats, multiple lavatories and two crew rests. Certifying the interior components involves analyses and testing of the lighting, lavatories, stowage bins, dimmable windows and galleys.

Passengers will be welcomed onto the 787 by sweeping arches, dynamic lighting, larger lavatories, more spacious luggage bins and electronic window shades whose transparency they can change during flight.

"Our team is making great progress and is looking forward to getting this airplane in the air later this month," Galantowicz added.

Flight testing will continue in the months ahead. Delivery of the first 787 to launch customer ANA (All Nippon Airways) of Japan is planned for the fourth quarter of this year.

There was also a hint that the basic Y class seat will be the shell of what will be seen in Air India's aircraft.

The engine seen is the Genx one and which Air India will be using.

The rest room tiled floor concept is something that Air India is looking at.

I was expecting larger windows in the main cabin.

And yes, the flight deck does look pretty spiffy !

Wow!! Ive just fallen in love with the 787 cockpit. It looks totally futuristic, also I love the way 787 Dreamliner is written on the cockpit ceiling.

They are bigger. I think they look the same size because there is nothing to compare them to in the photos.

Wow - fabulous pics of the 787 - thanks for bringing them here Karatecatman.

New bird stands our as the next gen visually thanks to the jagged engine nacelle trailing edge, the smooth nose profile and the 4 paned cockpit window. A very dramatic wing flex seen in front view during flight forms a neat arc wingtip to wingtip. Fuselage looks slimmer than it is thanks to the monster engine diametre. Love the graceful fuselage, wing and tail designs. Certainly a pretty bird this Smile

The interiors too have a soothing organic flow - Does anyone know how much narrower this is in comparison to the 747 or the 777 cabin width?

Really dig those expansive fancy electronically dimmed windows. And what about those cavernous overhead bins that ergonomically tilt to present themselves and yet not knock you on the head. Nice roof panels at the door way and I do hope the real mc coy comes with individual seat back PTVs. Unsual and interesting toilet floor.

Dark seat covers take away from the airy feel to an extent. Even if AI were to stick with their current 777 interior colours aka saffron and red theme, I'd be better than this.

Yummy cockpit certainly looks the part for a next gen 'largely plastic' airliner. looks simplified, oderly and the 4 paned cockpit windows add to this ambience.

Certainly after all this glitz, I sure hope the craft lives up to the hype in comfort and function.

Somehow it doesnt look Boeing-ish..rather like a ERJ-190 on steroids.
The interiors look very 'Russian-'..and this is not meant in a negative way..
Just doesnt look traditional American styling..

The cockpit looks pretty interesting though.

Amazing cockpit, very spacious and modern.

Also interesting to see the window dimmers in action. Now I will be able to look out the window without letting too much light into the cabin.
