Raj Thackeray chauvinistic statement sparks controversy
Mumbai / New Delhi, Mar 10 (ANI): Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray has sparked off a controversy by a statement on non-ethnic people living in the state. Thackeray said "his party would not compromise on the issue of Maharashtra's culture and pride." "We cannot progress by hating another community. But if somebody tries to trouble Maharashtrians while living in Mumbai, that will also not be tolerated. We will not compromise on Marathi pride and culture,"hackeray said.

Well in pune the outsiders really take the maharashtrians for granted and ridicule them everytime mock them . They really suffer an attitude problem
With this i refer to the student community .
The rave party stuff sure taught them a lesson .
As of Raj Thackrey its all politics nothing else . Maharashtrian politicians are the worst among the whole political scenario in india irrespective of which party they belong to |

Raj is right.
The bhaiyya brigade has taken the rest of India to be their property.
Though they protect their lands and businesses, the others they wish to either encroach or want a share of the booty.
My observations are based on the incident wherein bhaiyyas appeared for the railways exams from the Mumbai quota. |

The question is whom do you call Maharashtrian? Mumbai and maharashtra having prospered early, attracted a lot of internal migrants. So, nothing surprising if you find second generation non-maharashtrian in mumbai/pune area. Recently, Hema Malini casused a kind of stir about the same issue embarrassing her ally Sanjay Nirupam who himself is not maharashtrian. And this second generation thing happens everywhere. Take the case of my home town in North. Due to a PSU factory, it attracted engineers from all over the country and I had a fellow batchmate "Khandkar" who was born there and whose parents hail from Pune. But then, with Shiv Sena things are different.

p.s. there are other interesting cases too. It is not difficult to find 3rd generation bengalis in Lucknow/Kanpur/Allahabad/Varanasi. They migrated from bengal to work in UP's high court and other government institutions. As bengal was first to get modern education, it made them perfect candidates for those jobs. That was early part of 20th century and now you have their grand and great-grand children living there and having UP domicile. _________________ [url=http://openflights.org/user/aseemsjohri]

Well, politics or not, things are not looking too good for Local residents in Maharashtra.
Influx of migrants continues unabated. Everyday I can find new slums developing or the existing ones increasing in size. _________________ MRVC Mania. My blog dedicated to the new violet-white suburban rakes of Mumbai. |

Someone should trump Thackeray by saying that "Mumbaikars will not tolerate a non-Mumbaikar from insulting them." Now, of course, we all know that Mumbai-kars/Bombay-wallahs are Parsees, Sindhis, Gujjus (without whom all commerce in the city would cease to a halt), Bandra Catholics and Parsees (without whom the city would lack a sense of humor), all varieties of South Indians (without whom no work would get done), etc., etc., etc.
Someone needs to tell this blowhard that most Bombay-wallahs identify more with fellow Bombay-wallahs than their bhaiya relatives from Kanpur, their Maratha relatives from Ratnagiri, etc etc.
Like most Thackerays, this guy is a thug who's trying to build up his fast dwindling vote base. |

When shall we all consider ourselves as Indians first and then as Marathi, Tamil, Bengali etc.
It this trend continues the day is not far when states will start seeking independence/auotonomy and we may soon end up the Russian way...

I am surprised that members of this forum are using terms like 'bhayyas' and 'outsiders'. Nobody is an outsider in our country. We all are Indians first and then Maharashtrians, Tamils, Kannadigas or Keralites.
Indians from all over have contributed to the development and growth of Mumbai. Narrow minded people like Bal Thakaray and Raj are experts in playing with emotions of the people. One day, you'll find them talking about Hindutava and on some other day, you find these guys talking about the poor Maharashtrian.
We have people like these in all our states. It is upto the people to either ignore them or blindly follow them. _________________ Save Maharashtra! |
