Gulf air travel outperforms rest of world
by Rob Corder on Wednesday, 07 March 2007
Passenger traffic in the Middle East will grow at an annual rate of 7.1 percent through to 2015, according to Global Market Forecast, a study by aviation giant Airbus.

By comparison, the world forecast for growth is 5.3 percent for the same period.

The report, which examines world-wide aviation trends, singles out the Gulf as an internationally important and emerging hub for air travel.
"The Middle East is not only growing because of its own economic development, but is also benefiting from having three major and rapidly developing markets in its own backyard: Russia, Eastern Europe and India," say the report.

"The dynamism and entrepreneurial spirit of the region is now [also] bringing tourism and business traffic in its own right, representing half of the arrivals in the UAE and Qatar."

Commenting on the report, Adel Ali, CEO of budget airline Air Arabia, said that Airbus's findings chimed with his own views and strategy for growth. "This report confirms our own findings which show that passenger traffic through the Gulf will remain on an upward curve for the next two decades. In particular, as the Airbus study highlights, traffic between the Gulf and Russia, Eastern Europe and India will witness significant expansion. It is no coincidence that these three regions feature prominently in our own growth plans," he said.

But i am sure there will be a point before 2014-15 threeabouts where the market will reach oversaturation, with the orders these guys are placing, 60 350s, 100 787/350s not to mention the current fleet and outstanding orders of 330 340 380 and 777s.

The main advantage is because of their geographical location, anyone in the world can prefer to take these carriers while travelling to any other part of the world. And besides that when these carriers have excellent service standards why not?
