Thai Airways International has said that rising fuel costs are making its non-stop A340-500 Bangkok-USA run very unprofitable. It will now modify the service by making it halt in China or a yet to be identified airport in SE Asia.
It has denied that the move is because of falling passenger loads.
The airline has however admitted that the A340-500 is losing its charm in a rising fuel cost market and that for just 200plus passengers, running the A340 is unattractive.
The Thai chairman has been quoted as saying that it would be far better to use the 747-400.
Thai has also managed to get Airbus to agree to huge discounts on a planned fleet of A330s to offset the delay in the delivery of its A380s, says the BBC Asia TV report. |

My relative at LAX preferred BKK-LAX service at times because everytime he would meet his parents at HKT and proceed to LAX. Although he used to complain fares were higher on this leg as compared to other services like SQ and BA _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld
