Just saw this video.
It raises a question in my mind....why don't airlines use reverse thrust for pushback? Is the only reason that it might not be safe or something else as well.
Inputs awaited.

Its called Powerback.
Normally used fr Tail mounted Powerplants,as there is a risk of tipping over on Low Wing mounted Aircraft ,Hazard toGround staff & FOD.
On Wing mounted Engines.Stopping a powerback is by application of Forward thrust & NOT BRAKES.

The video even shows #3 Engine stalling.Damage to Powerplant life is an issue too.

You generally don’t see both engines started up near the aerobridges; planes are usually pushed back for engine start. But yea as Mel said, FoD is a factor, and as you mentioned the (most important) safety aspects of it (having stuff blown everywhere).
Another one is cost, not only in terms of fuel consumption but also engine use.
