Wtf?
Swiss accidentally invade Liechtenstein
ZURICH, Switzerland - What began as a routine training exercise almost ended in an embarrassing diplomatic incident after a company of Swiss soldiers got lost at night and marched into neighboring Liechtenstein.
According to Swiss daily Blick, the 170 infantry soldiers wandered just over a mile across an unmarked border into the tiny principality early Thursday before realizing their mistake and turning back.
A spokesman for the Swiss army confirmed the story but said that there were unlikely to be any serious repercussions for the mistaken invasion.

Some countries in Europe are so small that if you do not break your car in time, chances are you may have crossed few countries before your cars come to a halt.

Hehe....true...found this one:
Try landing on 18R (or taking off on 36L) at AMS - some times it's a 20 minutes to taxi to/from the gate. That runway is so far away I think it's in the next country! _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld

There is an airport called Basel-Mulhouse which serves the two cities which are in Switzerland and France respectively. The airport terminal is in France, but passengers from Switzerland can go to the airport by a road which does not involve any immigration or police checkpoint (though it would be there after you check in). Anyway, with Switzerland also supposed to be in the Schengen agreement this may not be relevant now.
I got this from a novel which involved someone committing a crime in Switzerland and leaving by this route. |

Switzerland is still about 2 years away from joining the Schengen agreement, but they have now decided to join. |
