sorry i dont have any pics but i will try and describe in as much detail as possible:-

BOM-DXB
This sector was on a 777-300ER, got an aisle seat. the 10 abreast seat hype is VERY overrated, unless you are very fat, you should be able to fit easily in the seat, pitch was great had enough legroom to cross my legs !
Was served breakfast, got the Keema Option, tasted good, and was plentiful, only hiccup was that the FA asked me "are you eating"? instead of what would you like, its not a biggie. but it sure was weird. ICE was great. Overall service efficient, had no complaints

DXB-SFO
This was on 777-200LR, and the legroom is significantly less than the 300ER, width is the same altough. Big widescreen with latest ICE was very good. So now heres the infamous emirates inconsistency appears. i had stowed my cabin baggage in the bin, and as soon as the seats next to me strarted to fill up, people with ginormous cabin baggages started to show up, moved my baggae around a bit to fit in theirs, which idont mind. next up this guy comes with a huge bag (i am very sure it was wayy beyond the required limits of cabin baggage), calls the FA to help him fit his luggage. the FA comes and tries to fit it somewhere but couldnt, then decided to take my bag out and put his in, and said "i think well have to check this in" and i had to intervene and tell her that i was here first, and my baggage had my laptop so i will not check it in, i told her straight up to check the other guys baggage in. so she did, no appologies on her end. breakfast was served, with over 50% of the flight ordering Hindu Meals ( which i dint), i dont understand how they ran out of both breakfast options when they got to me, and i told the FA that i dont want a hindu meal because i dint order it. she went to check in buisness class, but no luck, was stuck with Hindu Meal because i was really hungry. this completely pissed me off. again no appoligies. i mean i am not gonna make a scene out of it, but alteast applogiez ! anyway "as you like it" was served got the chicken tikka was good. lot of drink rounds on this 15 hr flight. Lunch was served this time i DID get my desired option. One thing that i noted was that unlike Singapore Airlines Emirates does not list the all the alcoholic beverages they have on their menu, which is a bit annoying. after about 11 hrs leg started to cramp, had to walk around. amenity kits were also given.

overall emirates definately does not live up the hype, altough catering is very good. service is quite the mixed bag. 10 abreast seating is also a hype, nothing wrong with it if you are avergely built. ICe very good.

Thanks for the info. I am surprised that the legroom on the 77L is less than the 77W's. I definitely could use any extra room on a 15 hour flight.

How was the connection in DXB? How long was your wait?

AFAIK EK earlier used to have a 33-34" pitch to compensate for the 10 abreast. Now they've realized that they can manage with a 31-32" pitch with 10 abreast. That's probably what happened, with the newer 77L coming with the "reduced" pitch - which is probably going to be the standard across their fleet.

Great report - thanks for posting. How full were the flights? What was the average composition (in terms of sub continent traffic vs. Dubai O&D vs. western crowd)? Would you fly EK again on this route (over say SQ or CX or LH)?

it was FULL flight on both sectors. DXB-SFO i would say was 95% people form India. i would fly EK again simply because they have the fastest connection from BOM-SFO and i get United Plus Miles, the only other fast option being Korean, which i am not too keen on trying. Compared to Singapore, i would say Singapore is better because of its consistency, compared to LH, i would definately fly Emirates

Nice description..

The schedules show CX is the faster than EK on BOM - SFO

KE - 20h15m connection: 2 hours
CX - 20h45m connection: 2h30m
EK - 21h45m connection: 2h45m

SFO - BOM EK is the fastest if you choose the 9W flight on DXB - BOM sector.

As mentioned in the previous posts, if it was not for the Indian traffic, EK would not have introduced the SFO or IAH flight. Only for JFK and perhaps LAX they have a significant amount of non-Indian traffic to make it worthwhile.

Well if you specifically mean the Indian traffic, agree with SFO but IAH can survive with the inflow of Pakistani traffic via DXB. A B787 capacity aircraft probably.

But if you talk about the Indian Sub Continent traffic, other than JFK I do not see EK,QR or EY surviving anywhere.

Hope we have a diff minister this time, who has guts to tame EK.
I was way pissed with legroom on B77W, maybe mine was of newer configuation. Even their YYZ flight won't survive without Indian passengers.....I guess UAE is giving employment to Indians, and in return India is giving employment to EK.
And ya, the f/a gave my special meal to the person sitting next to me, and before I could realize, he gobbled up all of it. I had to contend with Veg meal. Frankly, their regular menu was better than their special meals.
