India removes body scanner from airport - report

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India will not use X-ray body scanners it bought for security checks at airports due to concerns they violate passengers' privacy, a newspaper report said on Friday.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which is in charge of security of India's airports, had last year decided to install state-of-the-art body scanners at 16 airports over fears a "human bomb" could attempt to hijack a plane.

All this should have been thought of earlier.
Now to say that the images are too revealing and after spending so much tax payer's money is a terrible f***ing excuse.
Wasn't this obvious in trials? If memory is right, this issue arose during the trials and the CISF smart ass in charge said that the technology can be modified to blur the areas in question.

Hope this doesn't turn out to be another Kargil coffingate scam. Or hope it does and this gets PP chucked out.

CISF are a bunch of Idiots. Not properly trained, not very well behaved either. They have a misconception of being second to none. That's why they so often get beaten up my army jawans and IAF seargents .. Very Happy

indeed 9 out of 10 CISF are uncouth to say the very least..

that aside... they're extremely stupid if they wasted money buying it first knowing fully well what it was capable of "revealing" only to deem it a violation of privacy..

Is CISF not able to handle the machines or are the machines purchased and they can not be used to serve the purpose, what seems to be the issue.
