Rlys to Bombardier airlines with hi-speed trains
Quotes:
The railways are in talks with Bombardier Transportation for running high-speed electric multiple units (EMU) to link major metros with nearby industrial hubs and cities.
A senior Rail Bhawan official said the proposal is in the initial stages and talks are on with experts from Bombardier. Although the plan is to run trains at speeds not exceeding 250 km per hour, the railways may also look at the possibility of running very-high-speed trains at 300 km per hour.
Railways have also been contemplating running Bullet trains with a minimum speed of 400 km per hour on long corridors, say, connecting cities like Delhi and Mumbai. |

Excellent news. Forget 250/300 kmph, even 150/200 kmph on dedicated corridors will help immensely. Imagine getting from BLR to BOM in like 5-7 hours on a high speed train! |

A 300kph corridor between the metros + blr and hyd wud work wonders really. Coz the would be almost as fast as planes and will def lift some pressure off air travel.
Train at 300 kph would cover DEL-BOM in 5hrs and as a leisure travller id prefer tht and leave the short flights to business travellers. Also will be a boon to tourism _________________ Geniuses are always misunderstood in their lifetimes. |

Yeah. 300 kmph is a far fetched possibility. There will be scores of problems associated with it. _________________ MRVC Mania. My blog dedicated to the new violet-white suburban rakes of Mumbai. |

Not really! The amount of progress India has made in the last 10-15 years (before I left India) is just amazing. Based on the state of the country then did not imagine this kind of progress happening out there. |

nothing wrong in dreaming, so long as it is not day dreaming.
Hope the railways realizes that the main problem is not the tracks or the coaches, but fencing along the tracks to prevent people from taking "short-cut". If anybody of you have any doubts as to what can happen at 150, then have a look at this video and concentrate of lady in pink crossing the tracks.

Well! The pace of progress in India is much faster then, what it was at that time. Some things would just require patience. |

Today Lalu flags off the Garib Rath Express from Mumbai to Delhi.
Earlier we dreamed of class.
Now class has come and we are learning to sustain it.
India is now no more a third world country. It is gearing up and yes, has learnt to be consistent. Our GDP is consistent. Our growth rate at a superb 10 %, and yes we are growing. Kudos. |

Garib Rath Express is a fully a/c train.
The prices are really cheap.
Fully Chair car.
Time taken is not more than a Rajdhani.
Comfort is class for the masses.
Todays times of india/mumbai has a half page disclosure advertisement. |

Thanks for that..Sounds good but I guess 15 hrs while seated can be a bit of a pain. _________________ Geniuses are always misunderstood in their lifetimes. |

The Garib rath has AC CC as well as AC 3 tier classes on offer.
But the design of coaches is different. They have reduced the space inside the coaches to accommodate more passengers in a coach. Also, one has to pay for bedrolls. _________________ MRVC Mania. My blog dedicated to the new violet-white suburban rakes of Mumbai. |

No pantry car. 15 hrs. Interesting.
The name seems really ridiculous. |

here is the photo..the one on left in green and golden.
Clearly show the seating capacity of 75, which is equivalent to any Sleeper coach.
One big reason why fares are less. It remains to be seen how claustrophobic it is

The Delhi Mumbai Garib Rath Express came into lime light in early hours of the morning when the TC's fought over jurisdiction problems.
The Delhi TC's were given jurisdiction upto Ratlam, but Kota Division TC's were against it and a scene was created at Ratlam in the wee hours of morning today.
All news channels are displaying the show of strength of TC's against TC.
Imagine what would be the plight of passengers.......I guess Lalu needs to get a paradigm shift in attitude of the Railway Employees and then take on the LCC's. |
