I was wondering if anyone collects postcards of Air India aircraft. I've been doing so for a while now. Most of my collection stems from the days when my Dad used to fly AI 707s & then the 747-200s.

Does anyone have any other AI aircraft Postcards? Let me know if you want to sell yours if it's not on here. Here is my collection:

Air India Issued:

Airport Issued:

Non Air India Issued:

I wonder if AI makes any more postcards. The one up here (the one which has old fleets) is pretty sad for an airline issue. They've used a plastic model for the 744 & A300 pics. Looks very cheesy indeed!

Another one of the AI 747-237 at FRA. Similar to an earlier one, but not quite.

Pretty similar to this earlier one:

Appears to be the same aircraft judging from the ground below - any idea if this is on approach to BOM ?

I am very keen to collect airline-issued postcards . . . and if anyone has any airline-issued postcard from any of India's carriers (both past and present) for sale, please let me know how I could purchase them.

I had some Air India cards (B707s and B742s) from the past but these were lost when I moved house in 1992.

Many thanks for showing us your beautiful Air India cards.

747-237: aren't some of the latest ones - pics which we have seen on various fora?
For instance, the A330 is certainly the Jetphotos one of Rolland Nussbaumer, when
the aircraft was registered SE-RBF. I am new to this - what is the general company policy on such matters?
Thanks, Sumantra.

Sumantra - I got the latest set (& a couple of others earlier) from a manufacturer in Germany. It seems to be a private individual, as the reverse side of the postcards do not have any publisher / printer's info. Not sure if he himself is the photographer, or has some sort of licence for publishing postcards of other individual's pics. But yes, I too have noticed that the earlier 2 postcards (the 77L VT-ALA tail & the 772ER tail) I got from this source were of pics on a.net. Not sure how that works. There's nothing like an original airline issued postcard, though sadly this seems to have all but died out the world over. I guess privately made postcards are the next best thing.

Just got my hands on this awesome card of "Harsha Vardhan" at CDG. It's always great to find an Air India 747-237 postcard ... I hope to see what left of her flight deck early next year when I'm in BOM

Just got my hands on this Air India Concorde postcard (perhaps from when AI was an intended Concorde customer). Nice old colors from the 707 era - too bad we never got to see an AI Concorde or SST.

Great find, 747-237. This is clearly from the pre-production Concorde era - possibly
a 1960s issue.
Cheers, Sumantra.

Hi IACairbus300 and welcome to AI.net! If you'd like to, it would be great if you could introduce yourself on the member introductions thread.
