Technical problems occur here and then. There is a delay, problems get fixed or you get another plane.Happens once in a while. It's okay. It defenitely scares the bejesus out of you if you see the captain of your plane climbing on a ladder and fixing the wing with TAPE!
Not only is it the pilot that notices a problem with this planes wing but he takes it upon himself to repair it. If that isnt enough look close, the dude uses duct tape. I think I would rather drive.

Its not duct tape.. its whats known as speed tape, certified for use under certain circumstances and for certain non critical parts only. Its just stop gap usually.
Mel should be able to explain it to you more clearly. Its nothing to be alarmed or unduly worried about. _________________ If it aint Boeing.. I aint going. |

Well here is an example what forgetting to remove a duct tape can do!
From CNN (www.ccn.com)

The recenit nat geo aircrahs investigation series had covered this one as well. |

That looks like High speed tape applied on the LE of the TE Aft flap to cover any uneven surface until a permanent repair can be done......nothing to fret about.
The B757 accident that rajeev talks about was tape used to blank static ports prior to cleaning which were not removed thereafter. The AMM clearly states the procedure & method of taping these ports with red streamers, which was not adheared to in this case.
Rules are made to be followed & they must be followed.

I might be wrong, but looks a lot like the Old Bangalore Airport.
And the gentleman on the wing looks a lot like an AME than a Capt. I believe the person who posted it has the same knowledge , if not lower, as the so-called aviation "experts". Hence the mistake. |
