Thursday, February 8, 2007 (Bangalore):

A jet trainer has skidded off the runway at the Aero India Show in Bangalore, forcing the runway to close for an hour.

There are no reports of any injuries but clearly a major tragedy was averted.

Could not find anything more. NDTV

It's a tyre burst of HAL IJT. Not clear whether it happened during take-off or touch down.

Luck seems to be not so kind to Aero India. See the CNN-IBN story : it says that all further air displays have been put on hold.

Luckily the pilot is safe and the aircraft also seems to be ok.

It seemed that the Trainer Aircraft lost thrust on the T/O roll & aborted.
But Info sought from sources state the Canopy opened on T/O roll.
