I am planning a holiday in Egypt in the last week of September. I have shortlisted Qatar Airways. Could you guys please share your experience on QR.
The transit time between my arrival from DEL and departure to CAI is quite long. How is Doha airport in terms of duty free shops and restaurants? _________________ Save Maharashtra! |

Hi,
I have relocated to Delhi. MTNL people took almost 1 and half month to activate the net connection at home. Will be out of hibernation in a couple of days. _________________ Save Maharashtra! |

Not it is not all that extensive, can you specify the how many hours our layover? I assume it is going to be some 6 hours or so.
As far as inflight service of QR goes, it is a good airline if not the best, but do check what aircraft is flown. DEL-DOH would be a A330-200/300 with AVOD, DOH - CAI can be anything from A320 to A330. If you have an infant make sure you reserve a bassinet.
However, I would still suggest you to check EK, EY. With multiple dailies of EK from DEL, I'm sure CAI would be well connected. |

Thanks Ojas,
Yes, it's going to be a 6-7 hr wait at Doha. I would have preferred EK or EY but the return flight is from Luxor. The only options on the date are QR and Kuwait Airways. _________________ Save Maharashtra!

Yeah QR flies to LXR. However himmat, DOH airport would be just basic for your long wait. I suggest you keep a shawl, blanket handy and go to sleep for 3-4 hours.
There is enough place to sit, and yes there are some "quiet" rooms where you can sleep for 3-4 hours. It is equipped with sleeper seats. There is just one restaurant in Doha a coffee shop and one duty free, nothing much to rave about.
another point himmat, on your outbound leg, please do not think of taking a Visa on Arrival and tour the city. Since it is the holy month of Ramadan, the whole city is almost closed till the evening. So better you stay at the airport.
On your return you might as well want to see the Eid festival and indulge in some shopping at DOH.
Anymore queries, please let me know. |
