Namaste and greetings from Singapore,
I have just joined this forum and am very pleased to have found a resource for all my needs for Indian aviation information.
I enjoy every aspect of aviation - history, photography, the business of aviation, aviation memorabilia and collectables etc. I have been especially keen to photograph Indian airliners . . . except that other than those which appear in Singapore and places where I visit, it is difficult to photograph those that do not go beyond India's airspace.
I recall some years back when I visited Delhi and attempted to photograph planes on approach, I was quickly shooed away by security personnel. I hope that photography is or will some time soon be permitted.
I hope to learn a lot more in this site about India's aviation industry and am grateful for any pointers on where I could find updated statistics from Indian airports and airlines.

Hi KC and welcome to the forum. As far as statistics from Indian airports/ airlines go - I'd suggest you look at the posts on the Civil Aviation forum, and you will find some information there. Once you've gone through the old posts, you can also create a new post there asking for any specific information you'd like - and maybe one of the members will be able to provide it. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

Welcome KC Sim.
Photography is still restricted officially on Tarmac as on date.
But this forum has contributions from excellent photographers out here.
Nice to have you on this forum.

Hi Girish and welcome to this forum! How long have you been with AI? You must be rather sad to see the 744s get phased out in time (as are many of us here)?
Can I request you don't use Capitals when posting here, normally sentence case is used unless your intent is to shout at someone ! _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

Hello all! Yeah, I know it seems like I've fallen of the earth. And I kind of did. But I've been right here in Bombay, doing my thing. All of you been well?
Nimish wrote: | Jason - over 500 edits on Wikipedia in less than a month! Phew - you've been busy . |
OMG! Hahah! Yeah - long story about how that started, but if you see, most of those are me undoing the nonsense some d****ead from Kolkotto was peddling. This person absolutely insisted that Air India flew direct from CCU to ORD, with a stop in BOM.
At one time it was:
"Chicago by AI-681 has stopover in Mumbai for 2:30 hrs.In mumbai AI 681 landed at chatrapati shivaji intenational airport & passengers don"t have to change the aircraft"
Then that somehow became:
"chicago flight has astopover at mumbai for 3:0hrs.Flight no. is AI 381"
D****ead in question was insistent that AI 681 or 381 (flown by a 310) followed by AI 125 (flown by a 744) was all the same flight. And, of course, who needs a stop in London? Kolkotto is so important, that AI especially fly CCU-BOM-ORD (different flight nymbers, different aircraft - but its the same direct flight, don't you know?)
One of my favourite lines though:
"peopls who are given the inforamtion here are requested to give the proper inforamation by checking the respective airlines website.Beacause it is an official website used all over the world." |

Hi
I'm Frank and new to this forum, though I have been a silent reader for many months. By profession I am an airport planner who was based in the UK for most of my career before I retired and now settled back in the city where I was born. Currently I do consulting for airport developers in India and ASEAN region. I've been part of planning for airports in Delhi, Hyderabad and Bombay and I am hoping to look at the newer projects in New Bombay and Madras as well. |
