So, has anyone here broken any of their aircraft models? I have an AF A380 that fell off the table, the tail came loose, the NLG came off and one of the engines was loosened. I will try to glue the tail and engine back, the NLG will be a problem. I also have a 787 that pretty much exploded after I accidentally dropped it. Basically all the landing gear and he engines came apart. I also have a 747-100 that came with a loose engine, but that has been fixed.
So having said that, let's hear about your broken models. _________________ http://openflights.org/user/akumanduri |

Yah, I've had to swap out landing gear and engines from donor models and have gotten spare parts for others.
What brand models have you broken? |

All of them are Herpa 1/500 scale. I here that if you send them an e-mail they'll send some spare parts, maybe even a replacement if it's broken beyond repair. I'm sure putting new landing gear on a 1/500 model must be a real job, possibly harder than putting landing gear on a real aircraft. _________________ http://openflights.org/user/akumanduri |

Yah, Herpa is pretty good about that and yes, they may even send you a model.
Attaching the gear is not difficult. The difficult part is removing the old gear if you have a stump left.
Some tips:
If you have enough gear left to grab with a needle nose plier, try holding it over steam to loosen the glue.
If it has broken beyond the fuselage then you may need to use a dremel/small drill. If you go this route put plenty of layers of masking tape around the gear well so you won't scratch the surface if the drill slips.
Once you have the old gear out just use a tiny spot of Elmers white glue (the kind they use in schools) and place the gear in the well. Elmers glue is harmless so if you don't have steady hands or use too much glue you can just wipe it off. |
