Ok More Details
The trip came about in January and I redeemed points outbound on VS and inbound on BA. Around end Feb I got a bit worried with Virgin's daily delays especially since I had to travel to Canary Wharf after reaching LHR a journey that was estimated to take 90 mins by minicab and did take.
Got a call around 10 AM asking what car I was arriving in. Said I would reach around 1115 for the 1330 departure which was adequate IMHO. Reached at 1135 and was escorted from my car to the First desk. A embarkation card was filled up by them and the immigration tube was lifted so I could walk straight to the counter. 9W staff were at the other end who took me to the lounge and said to call her on her mobile when I wanted to board.
Here I foxed here by asking what I was flying and she told me 777-300ER and I told her I didn't mean that but VT-JEx. She said JEH had done the inbound and was now on remote and I would be on JED.
Ground Staff took everything of mine and me of course to my seat and introduced me to the cabin staff who would take care of me. Was hopeful that the pilot was one of the guys I know who does this route but wasn't.
Taxied at 1325 and was 5th in line. Poor BA and VS were still at gate. Airborne at 1350. FA brought champagne etc. and lunch was over by 1430. Made my bed and slept for about 2 hrs. Felt a bit hungry and asked for something of the snack menu. Then had a walk to the duty free.
Load was me and 1 in F. 50% IN Premiere and 90% in Y. Landed around 1810 at a dark LHR. First sight T5 and was excited that my flight to EDI would be from there and was happy that I would experience T5 on day 6. Eventually, cancelled my ticket due the debacle and took the train.
Had to wait for a gate at LHR and docked quite central next to a sister aircraft that had already arrived from DEL but couldn't get the registration. There was a guy on the bridge who took our hand luggage and put us on a buggy till the last walking point and then through fast track immigration.
Jet shall go a long way with this type of quality and service.
Verdict: Was it worth 81,000 JP Miles YES
