Why doesn't the 747 have a set of windows facing the front on the lower deck? it would be cool to watch the front view esp. during t/o & landing.
Airlines can make tat extra buck by selling seats facing the front.

Does the 744's main landing gear trucks move a bit along with the nose gear while the pilot is steering the a/c with the tiller?

The 747 has something called the body-gear steering...basically the body gears (the inner ones) move to help the pilots turn the plane. It is operative only below a certain speed (basically low speed) and from what i understand the system is locked out before take off.
The 777's also have a similar system by which the last 2 wheels in the truck turn to improve the turning radius

Hope this helps Very Happy

I have observed on the A340s that are with Srilankan, having a camera placed in the langing gear area. The visuals are available on the IFE screen. I happened to watch the landing at SG. Did not have too much of a luck on that day with a lot of cloud cover.

^^^

Many modern aircraft such as the 777, A330, A340, A380, and possibly the 787 have either a tail mounted camera or a gear mounted camera.

I remember seeing one in an Iberia A340 a few years ago. It was great as you can see take off and landing even if you are stuck in the middle.
