Hi guys:
Its always been brought up on forums about jumpseating on coomercial airliners these days. Though not allowed, suppose you know a pilot or an F/o do you think its still a possibility? I am talking about domestic airlines, like Indigo, Spicejet, Etc. since they are generally much more strict on international flights.

Hypothetically, if i knew a captain, would i be able to? Im hoping my friend saurabh (once he becomes a pilot ofcourse) will let me jumpseat.. hehe... what do u say saurabh?

regards
nitin

just make sure you have enough memory cards and batteries. And aim for A.net photo upload, as I doubt there are any cockpit photos from India.
good luck

Try to upload the video on FL350, it would be less frustrating and more satisfying than Anet. Of course, we need the stills for Anet. Have a nice time.

Suggestion here is that you may wish to not place your friend's licence at risk by insisting on jump-seating, since all it will require is one passenger complaint to DGCA and/or airline, if they see you going in or out. Likewise, even the crew often do not know if there is a Flight Marshal on board, and if they observe as well as report this, then there will be a major problem for PIC.

Suggest you select a good window seat and take your photos, or hand your camera to your friend.

It's best to visit the cockpit on ground. Please do not risk your friend's license.

I agree in a way but not really- his friend is the FO right, well if he allows it then go for it! I'm sure he knows the rules/regs and would not do it if his career was on the line. If both the FO and the captain agree then great!! If he thought it was a bad idea then he wouldnt allow it, no matter how much you pushed him.
You said that you will be able to visit the cockpit, so is this a cockpit visit or are you jumpseating (sitting in the cockpit from TO to landing)

malQ, is it true that the crew don't know when an air marshall is on board? I find that extremely mad.

You shouldn't find it weird.....safety is a different organization...what if the pilots are a part of the plot too...

Also a pilot in IC was suspended because he took his friend's son to show the cockpit....A PASSENGER REPORTED IT!!!!! The pilot was based in DEL

it depends if it was during flight or after landing... after landing is the safest... they always say yes...

It is my serious advise that if you are jump seating, then do not disclose any information about your contact person or the airliners concerned. You might be risking the job of your contact person. What most people do is do jump seating without prior announcement and then post the pictures giving no clue.
