U might need to have rock steady hands, to use the full zoom. the S3/S2 with 10X/12X optical zoom is bad enough. Had major problems taking steady shots at full zoom with them. But with a tripod, the shots were quite awesome. _________________ My Flickr photos

For aviation photography(A.net) P&S cameras are not acceptable. The only way this could be a good camera would be if its sensor is as big as that of a SLR camera. All other fancies are just to catch the attention of the normal people who don't know the problems of P&S cameras.
Among the p&S cameras, that i've found the best is a canon s2is, some pictures are really close to a dslr. |

The retail is $499. So it would be cheaper in a few months.
It has image stab. built in, so it would be relatively better even if you do nto have rock steady hands. |

There's the Sony DSC R1, whch has a large CMOS sensor. The pics are supposed to be very close to a DSLR. Hope to make it mine soon......

My brotherinlaw has that one. It has a very good lens and some of the indoorshots I took were amazing. It beats my Canon 350D with 18-55mm kit lens. I would need an L lens to beat the sony. One draw back is the zoom is about 125mm and also my canon is much faster infocussing and shooting. |

The reason I am sticking to Sony is I have got a DSC W7 presently and 2.5 GB memory sticks (1GB + 1GB + 0.5GB).
If I change my loyalties, I have to get a whole new set of memories. _________________ My Flickr photos

Nitin,
Being Canonian, let me suggest that, you could get at 350D+75-300mm canon lens for less than the price of that sony. If you take pics of planes, you will be all smiles. The sony will be good in wide angle area unless you spend a lot for a canon wide angle lens. You can use your current sony for wide angle. No, I don't get any commisions;)
Check for yourself the link, The first 6 are with a 350D, last 35(approx) with a P&S Minolta Z1 and remainingg with 300D.
