I was pleasantly surprised to discover the cosmetic improvements to BOM airport (terminal 2A) on a visit there this year. It appears cleaner, brighter, with new plants and paintings and clear sign monitors. The immigration and luggage facilities have also been streamlined. However, I cannot still understand why we have to have X-Ray machines in the customs in the Green Channel - this does not even exist at DEL!, much less anywhere else in the world. I was also very dismayed to find that the attendant on duty to collect customs declaration slips on the way out of the airport was unabashedly collecting $1-2 from each passenger - must have made a tidy packet! This creates a terrible first impression. CSIA does not have a website - how should this be brought to their attention, they certainly are doing a great job overall!

I agree the ambiance is definitely improving in 2A arrivals.

My NW flt. touched the runway at about 10:45 and I was checked in 9W with excess baggage paid and BPs in my hand at 11:55. It was pretty smooth.

But do not recall the attendant collecting any money.
