This is terrible terrible and devastating news - first for Nalini's family and immediate friends, and next for her extended friends circle on the internet.

I offer my deepest condolences to her family and wish them all the strength in the world to deal with this loss.

I was chatting with Ojas, and he mentioned that he's remotely related to Nalini and that's how he knows about this. She was suffering from the Big C - Cancer. That's all the details I have at the moment.

Once again - my heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. And may she RIP.

Its a really sad day for all her close friends and family,

From what i knew of her she was a very brave soul and always one who carried a smile on her face.

Indeed a sad day for all on this forum where a reply by Nalini will be missed,

May her soul rest in peace and my condolences go out to her family and loved ones.

Guys , I'll post further updates later tonight. I've asked my parents to contact her parents.

Nimish, she has stopped using her mobile for nearly a month.

And FYI, she took her last breath in Delhi.

May her soul rest in peace and i pray to god to give her family courage.

It is getting more and more painful the more I read it.

My parents contacted the Dev household. Nalini had been diagnosed with Brain Cancer, I think a tumour was detected. On monday , her breathing problems worsened and on 26th Feb 0225 hrs. she passed away. And she was aware all these days that she was dying.

The good side was that the people she loved the most i.e her "naani", "dadaji" and her parents were with her. She was cremated yesterday morning by her father and her parents are likely to leave immediately for UK.

I am in utter shock at this horrible news. I am just floored.

Nalini Dev was Airliners-India's sweetheart. She was a kind soul who always was very nice, funny, and informative. Her knowledge of the aviation industry in India was great, and no one had anything but wonderful things about her.

This is incredibly sad and again reminds us how life is so precious and fleeting. Our sadness pales in comparison to the unspeakable grief her family must be feeling. A life ended, so quickly and prematurely is doubly heartbreaking.

I propose, fellow A. netters, that we honor Nalini's memory by having an annual Nalini Dev memorial award to the A.netter who best exemplifies her courage, her grace, and her love of aviation. I also propose that somehow we all can write and express our sadness to her family, an online grievance page.

We shall never forget you, Nalini. May God bless your soul.

OMG.

I'm in tears. This is just too much.

Over the last few days, we had sent emails back and forth about visiting Farnborough and London, and then we played phone tag. A friend who works at Airbus had promised us VIP passes and we were all set to go. I hadn't heard back since the last email but thought she was busy confirming the time of her visit to the UK.

She never let on that she had cancer when we talked earlier, although she said that she was taking care of a health issue that she had fully under control. In hindsight, it makes me wonder if she had symptoms related to GBM, a rare form of brain cancer that often goes undiagnosed and can kill within a matter of months or even days when ultimately diagnosed.

I think I'm done with this forum.

I am terribly shocked and I don't know what to say. I still cannot believe that it's our Nalini. I heard the news only about two hours ago when I checked into the forum.

What a fantastic person she was! So full of life and enthusiasm! How very sad to see her go Crying or Very sad

Rest in Peace, Nalini. Those who God loves die young.

R.I.P. my friend

May God give courage to her immediate near and dear ones to tide over this moment.

Lets all strive to continue this forum in the same spirit as Nalini used to...always bubby, enthusiastic, and so knowledgeable.

May her soul rest in peace.

This is really the saddest moment for AI netters. We've lost a friend and a fellow aviation buff. May the almighty support her family to get over the tragedy and her soul RIP.

Maybe for a month or so (for new photographs) me and my fellow photographers could just add a small line to their photographs on a.net or jp.net dedicating the photo to nalini or just mentioning her. Its the least we can do to mourn this tragedy.

This is really shocking! Never in my conversation with her did she ever make it obvious that she was ill. She was always so cheerful and lively.

May her soul rest in peace!

We were debating on how we can pay our tributes to Nalini, and the least we could do was to add this tag line at the top of each page:

Quote:
"Nalini Dev - one of the best human beings we've come across so far. We miss you a lot - Airliners-India members"

The other thought was to have her picture on the top left for a few days but we weren't sure about the sensitivities involved there...

Any other suggestions are welcome.

OMG, this is really sad news!

I was actually out of A-I.net for the past few days because my wife was hospitalized following a haemorrage, which the doctors suspected was cancer. After 4 days of uncertainty the biopsy reported negative. I came back here with a huge relief only to find this devastating news!

God rest her soul in peace..

Still shaking in disbelief...

Yes that was a great relief. Thanks. I was actually planning to attend the BLR meet for the first time during this time around; but suddenly had this emergency.

Although, I was not all that active on this forum, I really enjoyed reading through all the posts. I think we should do something as a collective to keep the memory of Nalini alive and do something to encourage more Nalinis interested in aviation.

The news came to me through Karan and Shekar. I am shocked that she is not amongst us anymore. The thought itself is not complete.

She was a well read and dignified girl having immense knowledge about aviation.

I offer my deepest condolences to her family at this time.

An ode to Nalini.....

Since aviation was her major passion.
