Founders were Captain Deepak Parasuraman, Capt.Pattabhiraman, Krishna Vittaldev. Ceased operations in late-2006. Then was taken over by a Bangalore industrialist and restarted operations since July 2007.
(Directors are Krishna Vittaldev, Vish Sahay and Narayanan but there are supposed to be more changes.)

The next month, Aug 07, there was a huge announcement in Chennai to say that it would fly Chennai-Vizag. Supposed to have a Chennai-Vizag-Kolkata service but seems to be erratic.

Has only one Fokker aircraft.
But as a cargo airline, supposed to be getting checked by inteliigence agencies on its source of funding.

Crescent Air plans Vizag-Kolkata cargo flight

Our Bureau

Visakhapatnam, Dec. 13 The Chennai-based Crescent Air Cargo Services Pvt Ltd is planning to introduce Vizag-Kolkata cargo flight, probably by the end of the month, as there is encouraging response to the recently introduced Chennai -Visakhapatnam-Chennai Fokker F 50 freighter aircraft.

The service is available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to Chennai.

As many as eight tonnes of cargo, mainly shrimp seeds, tuna fishes, garments, pharmaceutical products and automobile parts, have been airlifted since the operation began on November 28.

WOW.

Thanks for the info.... the latter sounds like the drug smuggling days out of central America into the North....

I worked for an airline in the UK that used to wet lease 707s down round Africa in the 70s and 80s as an "Instant Airline".... one of the flying spanners on it told me they regularly went into Mozambique with crats labelled as "machine parts" but he says one opened one day.... when he looked inside it it was full of AK47s.... they were gunrunning!!!

They made a lot of money this way and it enabled them to upgrade their fleet... eventually buying new aircraft.... today they are the 2nd biggest operator in the UK.... BMI

I doubt Crescent are gunrunning - or drugrunning.... but there is something "seat of the pants" exciting about it... dont you think!

Hope they keep flying anyways.... Fokker haven't really had a good run in India.

Cheers..... Dave
