Trip route:
Bombay - Singapore – Bombay
Airline – Singapore Airlines
Flight no. SQ 423/SQ424
Dep: 00:30/20:20
Date: December 8th/25th
Aircraft type – Boeing 777-300
Flight duration – 5 Hours approx.

Background Info:

I had to attend a Regional Meet at our HO at Singapore (my 4th trip since last year) and hence the trip. I had booked my tickets almost a month in advance. I had just completed a similar trip on the 9W 737-800 and didnt have any fond memories of the same, and hence reverted to SQ. Whatever be the departure time, i always love the window seat and had no problems securing it.

I arrived at Mumbai airport almost 3 hours before departure at Terminal 2C. Mumbai international airport is nothing to talk about! As usual, once you cleared immigration, i decided to laze around at the Oberoi Clipper Lounge (the one where they allow Mastercard Gold members in for complimentary). Had a nice time chatting up a couple of guys from New York (waiting for their Continental flight), and managed to spend a good hour and half.

Then decided to head for the Gate... there is an absolute lack of Direction Boards/Signs, and i navigated with great difficulty to locate which Gate SQ423 would depart from.

Flight Status

Boarding from the Gate was chaotic, but i dont really blame SQ for this. I think it has something to do with our selves so used that we are to get inside a bus or train!

The usual round of hot towels and then the crew came around with the drinks service and also distributed the menu. And then started the fun....i think i managed to doze off the precise moment the crew came around distributing the food (but only for a few minutes)...and u know what was the result? NO FOOD FOR ME THROUGHOUT THE FLIGHT Sad I was not that hungry anyways and hence didnt bother to hassle them, but i think it is basic courtsey to ensure each passenger is asked whether they wish to have food.

The inflight Krisworld was also not that great either.

Soon the captain announced that he would be commencing descent shortly very soon we landed at Changi (albeit now a bit famished).

Overall a good experience flying SQ as always

My return trip was slightly better with food being served!!

Sorry but no pics here, but i do await ur comments and feedback. Thanks.

Hi Amitabh - glad to see another report on SQ's BOM-SIN seva. How would you rate your flights overall? Why did you not like 9W? Now that 9W is using a 332 on this sector, would you consider flying them again? Are you an FFP on SQ/*A and is that the reason you chose them?

Hi Nimish

Overall, SQ is a wonderful product, no doubts on that at all! In hindsight, i guess it was a mistake not to have flown 9W. My last BOM-SIN-BOM on 9W was when they were using the B737-800 (and which relates to my bad experience). My next trip to SIN definitely is on the 9W A332. My colleague flew from DEL-SIN on the 9W A332 was extremely delighted with the new product esp its AVOD. So yes, the next SIN trip is on 9W Smile

I am not a FFP on SQ...i repeat, it was a mistake to have not flown by 9W, and the thought of having lost out on all those FFP miles Sad
