well most of the big airlines have their own company freqs
and normally it is the same all over the country.
AI, IC,9W,DN all have their own dedicated freq to call up their respective dispatches......and as far as we are concerned..we hitch-hike on the AI company freq |

It's this frequency I was asking about. If someone has a link to a site where it's available, please post it here or PM the details to me |

company frequency is a closely guarded aspect. Atleast officially we are not allowed to and we dont give out the company frequency.. but many of the airlines with a scanning base-set can intercept other company chat.
Never does anyone like their company frequency be tapped into for security reasons and also because we rely on it for ground to cockpit communications during certain phases and any mischief can cause grave consequences. Unless someone is willing to give u these frequencies in private.. you'll have tough luck getting it openly. _________________ If it aint Boeing.. I aint going. |

although company frequencies could be closely guarded secret, they can be detected using a scanner. I have ops frequencies for 9W, IC & AI for mumbai. And there exists another frequency for cargo & makeup area. |

Does anyone know whether the frequencies are common across the country? Or are company frequencies city specific? |

Are you reffering to Co channel for Grd to Air communication as with Maintrol or the Frequency used by the Staff on ground via portable RT sets.
The Former is a Fixed Frequency. The Latter can vary per city as per service provider.Nowadays the RT sets supplied to staff are pretuned & cannot be used to scan.
As for the Maintrol setr used by Mx to communicate with the Flight deck. That is a fixed frequency countrywide.

i was referring to communications done through RT, which as you said might vary from city to city. The dispatch frequency is fixed countrywide wherein comm takes place between aircraft and ground. |

Def vary as per the Service provider fixes the same on the units. But it can be traced during Tx.

Wouldn't spacing the coil turns be the preffered option.

this is an issue with crude tinkered radios...i suggest u make a dipole antenna...try googling for more info....very easy to make....thr are certain lengths which i dont quite remember now....but ya...the transmissions get a shade better with those.. _________________ blue skies :d |

Just a question.
When the switch is made to GAGAN, the ISRO-based satellite navigation and communication platform, will it also mean a change to to digitally encrypted frequencies and the end of the normal ATC scanners?
Or does one have to go in for the digital trunk tracker scanner now? This costs nearly 590 pounds upwards. |

The Frequency indicated might not read the Actual frequency caught on Coil adjusted sets.

Well,i have talked to the person and he told me that he stocks ICOM receivers(IC - R5 and IC - R10) and both handheld and the other types(no clue as to what the other types are) and the minimum price he quoted was 10,000 bucks...!!
It seems i'll continue using my tweaked transistor for quite some time..!! |

Hi guys,
I tried out the makeshift ATC scanner by spacing out the 2 coils to the max, but I couldn't receive any chatter except the useless FM shit. It would be really if someone cloud guide me further!
Here's a pic of the radio I tried:
Btw, I stay quite close to VABB.
Thanks in advance!

You need to space the coils by increasing the gap between the turns & not stretched as you have done in the pic.
Also wheres the ebonite rod.
